Nashville or Bust

Well Gilmore Girls was certainly good last night. I thought they did the whole thing justice and I really really enjoyed it. By Geroge, they've got it figured out again! Although, I must say. If they do any stupid crap to make the Luke/Lorelai thing not work, I will be very very very upset. I don't know where I want them to pick it back up in the fall either. In some ways, I'd like if they skip ahead a bit so we don't have to see Rory deal with all the Dean stuff. But I'd also like to see Lorelai and Luke get together, so in that way, I hope it doesn't skip any time. I'm guessing it won't skip much time because they have more material when Rory's at home and the writers will probably want to do all the messy Dean stuff. Intrigue.

Aside from TV, I'm getting ready to head to Nashville. We're leaving early on Friday, so stuff has got to be handled by then. I'm taking Miss May to the groomer's today so she can get her ridiculously long nails trimmed and her coat trimmed and her extra ears (these weird little furry balls she gets behind her ears) clipped off and she'll be all nice and pretty smelling for in the car and at Matt's Dad's house. I've also got to get car food and entertainment together and get stuff packed! Matt has been working very much, so he hasn't been available to help. But I'm looking forward to a very nice weekend with him … when he won't be bugged with phone calls from work every other second. Continue reading “Nashville or Bust”

Sleep Patterns

I got the mojo (programatically speaking) going last night and just tore up the site and did a bunch of other work. So as a result, I was up 'til 6 AM. What can I say? When I get going really well, I just can't stop. That sort of stuff is too good to waste.

So this morning as Matt was leaving (he kept annoying me to see if his outfit matched … though in my exhausted state, I probably would have told him that a wet suit with a tutu looked good) he asked me what time I wanted the alarm set for and I stupidly said 10. So at 10, I got up! Urgh. I'm determined to stay up so I'll be tired at the proper time. I hate doing the night owl thing for too long. I hate being on weird sleep patterns and I miss snuggling up next to Matt.

Tweaking

I set myself on a tweak-fest tonight. There were a few little picky things, mostly dealing with the cookbook that I wanted to sort out. I enjoy doing challenging work sometimes. Tonight was one of them. I just got going and I couldn't stop. Is that a bad thing??

I am officially out of reading material. I really should make a trip to the library. We have our road trip coming up, so I could get some books on CD as well as some plain ol' books. Last time we listened to George Carlin read his book, Napalm and Silily Putty. I would love to go on the online card catalog, but it's been broken for a while now. FIX IT, PEOPLE! Matt and I went for a walk and I was inspired to take a few pictures. There were some cool mushrooms and a really pretty sky that's getting poised to storm like crazy. I love this time of year. Everything is green and gorgeous and flowering. Kudos nature. Another great spring.

I'm planning to work on our paper scrapbook for the France trip but for some reason I can't find the sticky letters we bought for the cover which is making me mad because I know I put them in some sensible place yesterday but now I can't remember what that place is. Oi. I guess I can continue without them, but I'd really rather have everything to start them.

Muskrat Luv, et al

When we were out walking the other day, we saw some sort of mammal swimming around in the little pond near our apartment. It just glided along and dove really well. So we watched it for a while. It was too small to be a beaver and now I'm pretty sure it was a muskrat. It's kinda neat! I'd never seen one before.

We also walked by another pond in another neighborhood and there were a couple of ducks with little ducklings swimming along in a row behind them. They were really cute!! Matt made lots of funny unmanly little sounds while watching them swim.

And we have done absolutely nothing of interest today. We just did the normal sorta stuff and CLEANED. We made this pizza tonight that was a lot of work. It wasn't hard, but a lot of work went into it and it was rather disappointing. It wasn't bad, just not to our taste.

Cruel but not Unusual

Matt made me go running with him today. To be totally fair I didn't put up much of a fight. I like to try to do some stuff that he likes to do no matter how much I anticipate not enjoying it. Honestly, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, I guess. But as a result, I'm sooooooo tired. Cuz we went 6 miles (most of that not running).

Today, I also made the mistake of having Matt put together the grocery list. All he had to do was go through the recipes we'd marked in the cookbook and write down the ingredients that we didn't have. Yea, well it didn't work so well. We didn't get home with a major ingredient and had I not remembered a few on-the-fly, we would have been missing a few more. Of course I forgot to pick up something that was on the list so we're sorta even. I guess. Continue reading “Cruel but not Unusual”

*Yawn* *Streeeeeetch*

It's Saturday morning and I'm busy enjoying myself and doing … well not much. I found this super-addictive game last night called Inspector Parker. Those jerks at Yahoo! offered it to me as a free trial and I took it and enjoyed it so much that I paid $20 to get the full version (which is exactly like the free version, but you can play for more than 60 minutes). Anyhoo, it's sort of like clue … a whodunit. But you use this board and logic to figure out all of the stuff, and there's not just person, place, weapon. There's murderer, victim, motive, weapon, evidence, means of body disposal, etc. once you get into the upper levels. Like clue, you can play it repeatedly because everything is randomly generated. It's definitely worth the free download. Luv this game!!

And last night we watched Trek: Uncut and then we watched Robin Williams' HBO special which we got on DVD. That man is freakin' hillarious. We only finished half because we were so tired, but it was an entire hour of laughing out loud.

So now I'm sitting here waiting for Matt to finish working. When he does, we're going to go out and run Saturday errands. I'm not sure what exactly we're going to do. I do know we need groceries. And I'm thinking I might want to find a pair of shorts to take with us to Nashville. It gets *SO* hot there.

Weekend Prep

It's FRIDAY! That means Matt will come home at a fairly reasonable time today and we'll get to hang out all night and maybe go play some racquetball or something and watch Trek: Uncut and have lots of fun fun fun!

We went to a local Mexican food restaurant called Laredos last night. It was pretty good, especially for this area. The mid-west does not abide by spicy (or interesting) food. I really wanted a chimichanga and I got one and its friend is in the fridge waiting for lunch.

It's shaping up to be a fairly boring weekend. It's been raining, so there won't be a lot of outdoorsy stuff we can do. Probably just walking around and maybe biking on the trails although it's so humid I'm not sure we'll want to do that (Note to self: buy new sunblock). Plus, this apartment really needs cleaned. And I'm not talking the kind of clean where you put stuff away. I'm talking about the kind of clean where you scour every surface and disinfect every crevice. Continue reading “Weekend Prep”

Spring!

I decided to take my camera with me when I took May out for her evening walk. She's a rotten subject. Sure she's cute and all, but she practically refuses (in her doggy way) to look at the camera or to stay still or to sit or do anything. Still, 50 photos or so later, I got a few good shots. Does anyone remember what we did before digital cameras??

It's been raining alll week. And it's supposed to be nice this weekend, but things won't dry out enough to go moutain biking or anything and Matt is on call alll weekend, so we can't go much of anywhere, though I sure wouldn't mind going to Chicago.

Anyhoo, I'm going to make some quesadillas tonight. Ones with meat and beans and I'm sure they'll be very good. I also went by the store and got a watermelon. They've been sooo good lately. We cut 'em in half and make little balls out of the meat (which is the proper term, but it's never sounded quite right to me) using one of those melon ballers. That way we've got a ton of watermelon ready for consumption. I hate cutting up watermelon.
