Glad to be Back

The beach was wonderful. The sister's married. The wedding was beautiful. We had a really really great time. We're both totally exhausted. I will post some more pictures soon … so so so glad to be back.

Packed(ish) and Ready to Go

We spent all last evening running errands and packing. It was probably a bad idea to be gone the weekend before a big trip, but we had fun, so I care not. However, it made last night very hectic indeed. I didn't get to bed until after midnight and when I get home from work, I've still got to cram a few things here and there. I am so bad about over packing!! Shorter trips I've gotten better, but … this trip is a long one and we're doing varied things, so I packed tons.

Anyhoo, so we're flying into Nashville tonight. Then we're renting a car and driving to Matt's dad's and spending the night there. Then we're leaving in the morning and heading south to Birmingham to pick up a friend from college and then further south to Destin, FL where we'll stay in Matt's dad's condo for almost a week (beach, fun, sun) … and then we backtrack to Nashville and we'll arrive in plenty of time for some pre-wedding events leading up to the big day when Matt's lil sis, Theresa, gets married. Weekend at Vail

We spent all weekend up in Vail. We were officially there on baby-sitting duty for a friend's wedding, but we managed to sneak in a lot of fun on the side including some mountain biking (the guys anyhow) and some hiking. The weather was amazing … bright and clear and 20 degrees cooler up there than in the city.

I took exactly 0 photos… I really need to get my photographer back on before we go on vacation later this week or that trip will end up similarly. Oh well!

3x Thursday: Weekends

1. How do you feel about weekends? Do you look forward to them, or do you loath them? Why/why not? I ♥ weekends! We both do. It's a time to slow it down a bit and take more time to do the things we love and see people we don't get to see during the week and do things that we can'd do during the week.

2. What do you like to do on the weekends? What don't you like to do? sports & fitness (walking, mtn biking, skiing, gym), TV & movies, dining out, dining in (lotsa good cooking) projects (home, crafts, woodshop), seeing friends and family, SLEEPING IN

3. Do you ever leave town on the weekends? If so, where do you go? What do you do? We don't do it often, but we like to go to the mountains in general to take photos, hike or ski, and to Vail more specifically to ski, mountain bike and relax.

Bonus Question for Comments: What do you dowhen you have the occasional odd-day (3 day weekends, vacation day, etc)off? Depends! Last 4th of July weekend we roped my mom and sis into helping us strip the wallpaper in our kitchen and repaint it! Last 4-day weekend I took, I organized my office and spent a day hanging out with Matt. In the future, I'd love to get out of town and go see some more CO sights. What about the rest of you?

Boston

Well, sadly, I didn't get that many good photos from Boston. I will be checking with our friends though and getting the ones they took. I wasn't a very good photographic tourist this time around.

Anyhoo, like I said, we went to Bean Town for the long weekend to see the sights and attend friend Holly's hometown baby shower. We left early on Friday and got into Boston mid-afternoon (dern time change). We were lucky enough to draw bee-yoo-tee-ful weather and after we checked into our hotel, we set out on foot to see what we could see. We met up with Mike (hubsand of Holly)'s parents and ended up going to dinner at Legal Seafood. After dinner, we headed up to Harvard Square and got tea at TeaLuxe and walked around checking out Harvard Square and chatting.

Saturday Morning we got up bright and early and caught some Dunkin' Donuts coffee (and their unremarkable donuts) and headed to the Haymarket where we met Holly's dad and step-mom, Ead. Ead is from Thailand and she picks up a weeks worth of produce there every Saturday. It's an amazing farmer's market and we were ardently wishing we had the like in Denver.

After a bit more sight-seeing and some lunch, Holly's dad picked us up at the hotel and gave us an excellent car-tour of the sights and sounds of Boston and then of the amazing old houses and sights of Hingham and Cohasset. Continue reading “Boston”

Back from Boston

Hi all! So we're back from Boston!! We went up for a long weekend to see the sights (Matt had never been before) and to attend our friend's hometown baby shower.

There was much fun to be had and when I'm not so freaking exhausted, I'll tell you all about it.

And on Sunday …

Since we'd stayed up until 1:30 at my parents house playing Phase 10, we were a bit slow to get started on Sunday. Once we did, we introduced Patrick to the wonders of Noodles and Company and then headed south to visit Garden of the Gods. I'm not sure I've ever been there before Sunday, but whatever the case, we got to take Loki on a nice walk around the area and look at some very nice rock formations. I will be posting further photos later …

After GotG, we drove back to Denver and picked up dinner at Tamale Kitchen … we took the food home and made the only thing that could possibly improve upon Tamale Kitchen's food: margaritas. Margaritas were followed by lots and lots of Karaoke Revolution. I think it's safe to say that everyone enjoyed themselves.

On the Slopes

Our good friend, Patrick, was in this weekend from Nashville. As is our tradition, we went skiing!! We usually go Vail, but since the condo was occupied, we day-tripped Copper Mountain instead. It was perhaps one of the best skiing days I've ever been on. The weather was gorgeous … sunny and warm(ish) for most of the day and the snow was bee-yoo-tee-ful. Since we rented skis in Denver, packed our lunches, and used our vair cheap Copper 4-Passes, it was a very cost-effective day on the slopes as well.

It was quite the remarkable day, too. As we were waiting in the lift-line we noticed a young lady in a puffy pink jacket with a fur-trimmed hood. She was wearing TONS of make-up and talking on her cell-phone (and a call that was clearly NOT “I'm in the lift line!”). Well we got on the lift, went on up and started skiing down. We noticed Ms. Cellphone skiing and talking at the same time. Suddenly, the multi-tasking became too much for her and she fell in a giant poof of white. Miraculously, she managed to hang on to and keep talking on her cell phone. Tres amusant.

But that does not compare to the other spectacle we witnessed … Continue reading “On the Slopes”

Weekends are Too Short

In case you can't tell, this is a look of pure joy on my doggy's face. Mr. Loki woke up on Saturday morning only to find that he got to go hiking! We went to Eldorado Canyon, just south of Boulder and had a nice, long (but not too long) hike in the beautiful fall weather. Loki was mostly good until the ranger showed up. Then he wouldn't come when called and we got a warning and a prescription for more training. “Moki clearly isn't under voice sight control,” she told us. I told her that I didn't know who Moki was, but that we'd work on training Loki better. He also gets called Lucky a lot.

We also got our Christmas photo taken (finally!). After many attempts near home, we balanced the camera on a rock and did ONE SHOT on the timer that turned out perfectly. I won't be posting it until after my Christmas cards go out, though. So y'all will have to wait. Until then, you know where to find other photos from that day. My Weekend

My faithful humans have once again allowed me to take over their web page and tell it like it really is. This weekend we went away. I don't know how far away since I was locked in my box in the back and couldn't really see, but it must have been pretty far, since it took a long time to get there and it smelled *way* different from home. Really, it looked like the biggest park I'd ever seen.

The first night was kinda crummy. We rode around forever and then we got to the big park and my female human, Jess, just moaned about being cold and she went to sleep in the car and I didn't see her again. Then my male human fed me some food and put me in the box. I went to sleep.

In the morning, they took a while to get up. I was kind of impatient, but once they did, I had the best day ever. I went on a looong walk. Then I swam. Then we went on another loooong walk. Then we ate some tasty yummies. Then we went on another loooong walk. This one was my favorite, because I got to climb all over rocks and up very steep things … so much fun! And I hardly had to wear my leash at all!! Then I had a little rest, but not too long. Continue reading “My Weekend”
