Boston

Well, sadly, I didn't get that many good photos from Boston. I will be checking with our friends though and getting the ones they took. I wasn't a very good photographic tourist this time around.

Anyhoo, like I said, we went to Bean Town for the long weekend to see the sights and attend friend Holly's hometown baby shower. We left early on Friday and got into Boston mid-afternoon (dern time change). We were lucky enough to draw bee-yoo-tee-ful weather and after we checked into our hotel, we set out on foot to see what we could see. We met up with Mike (hubsand of Holly)'s parents and ended up going to dinner at Legal Seafood. After dinner, we headed up to Harvard Square and got tea at TeaLuxe and walked around checking out Harvard Square and chatting.

Saturday Morning we got up bright and early and caught some Dunkin' Donuts coffee (and their unremarkable donuts) and headed to the Haymarket where we met Holly's dad and step-mom, Ead. Ead is from Thailand and she picks up a weeks worth of produce there every Saturday. It's an amazing farmer's market and we were ardently wishing we had the like in Denver.

After a bit more sight-seeing and some lunch, Holly's dad picked us up at the hotel and gave us an excellent car-tour of the sights and sounds of Boston and then of the amazing old houses and sights of Hingham and Cohasset. We checked into our hotel in Hull and met up with Mike's parents again. We napped and relaxed the afternoon away and met up with Holly's mom. We all went to dinner together that evening at an unremarkable restaurant that I won't bother searching out on the net. The company was lovely, though.

Sunday was the day of the shower. The guys made an appearance and then made themselves scarce so we could eat a very nice brunch and Holly could open tons of cute baby things. It was especially fun for me because I got to meet all the people I always hear about.

That evening, we went to Holly's dad and step mom's house where Ead made us amazing Thai food (papaya salad, pad thai, green curry, eggrolls) and Holly's dad made us marvelous apple pie. We had a most excellent time chatting and eating … and eating.

That evening Holly's dad drove us back to Boston. Overnight, a snowstorm blew in and we spent the morning tromping around in the slushy city snow. We headed up to Harvard Square and had the famous (huge)Bartley Burgers for lunch that no one could finish and headed back to TeaLuxe for another chai fix. We shopped for souviners and before long we had to head back to the hotel to check out and go to the airport.

Our last Boston stop was to buy some take-home chowder from Legal Seafood's airport location for my family … and home we came.
