Weekend Prep

It's FRIDAY! That means Matt will come home at a fairly reasonable time today and we'll get to hang out all night and maybe go play some racquetball or something and watch Trek: Uncut and have lots of fun fun fun!

We went to a local Mexican food restaurant called Laredos last night. It was pretty good, especially for this area. The mid-west does not abide by spicy (or interesting) food. I really wanted a chimichanga and I got one and its friend is in the fridge waiting for lunch.

It's shaping up to be a fairly boring weekend. It's been raining, so there won't be a lot of outdoorsy stuff we can do. Probably just walking around and maybe biking on the trails although it's so humid I'm not sure we'll want to do that (Note to self: buy new sunblock). Plus, this apartment really needs cleaned. And I'm not talking the kind of clean where you put stuff away. I'm talking about the kind of clean where you scour every surface and disinfect every crevice. Continue reading “Weekend Prep”

Morning Mumblings

I am (brrr) so chilly. Matt loves to have the A/C on at night, so it's always freezing in the morning. I had kind of restless sleep last night. It was hard getting to sleep and then for some reason, during the last couple of hours of sleep, I kept waking up like every 20 minutes or so. Very annoying. I was also quite disappointed to find that our milk had gone bad this morning. Right after I'd poured it on my cereal and put a spoonful in my mouth. Goooood morning sour milk!!! Tuesday Night Happenings

Gilmore Girls was sooooo good tonight and next week looks even better. Luke and Lorelai finally together!! And that Dean, Rory stuff … REOW!! I luved how she shut Jess down too. Grungy little Kerouac wannabe. I really love that show. It was a bit rockier earlier this year, but it's hit its stride again and I'm back to lovin' it. It's been sooo good lately. Yeesh!

I also made dinner tonight. I made some sesame chicken, which was nasty as heck. We couldn't even eat it. That's permanently getting crossed out of the cookbook. So we went to Chin's and got some replacement Sesame chicken that was excellent as usual.

Speaking of cooking, I saw a few more cookbooks today that I'd love to own. Two are from Canyon Ranch (that spa place) and they have really neat looking simple recipes. And I also saw the Jimtown Store Cookbook. The Jimtown Store is apparently this general store type place somewhere in Sonoma and it's got a lot of really great sounding baked goods and some other simple sort of home cookin' recipes with a twist. I like cookbooks way too much for my own good. I won't buy them right now though. I'll be trying some of the recipes in the Moosewood cookbooks I scrored at the used-book store.

Errands & Smoking

My day has been absolutely swallowed up by errands … well one errand in particular. Getting new shoes for my car. I was on the way to the club this morning and it was a bit wet and my car was slipping around, so I decided today was the day. Unfortunately, it took waaaay longer than I thought it would. But I got to ready a bunch of my book and so that was OK. Plus, I got the labor free, which was about $40, so that's excellent.

I also got a haircut. I could not stand it anymore. It was getting all tangly underneath and split endy, so now it's cut and back to being light and fluffy. I liked the lady I went to pretty well, so I might go back.

And now, a rant. Continue reading “Errands & Smoking”

Busy! So So Busy!

It's Thursday. This week has just flown by. I've had so much to do. Little picky problems that had to be solved and those annoying tasks like paying the bills and stuff like that that I've been consumed with. That stuff just eats time. And I've got so much stuff to do and I really really really need to clean before I go insane from clutter poisoning.

The busy/hectic season is starting too. From mid-May to mid-June there's always tons to do. This year we've got a bunch of birthdays, a graduation, Mother's Day and Father's day. Gifts, cards, travel. It's furious fun. Meanwhile, I'm studying up for my MS certification. It's as boring as it sounds, but it is at least useful. Everyone these days wants (2 years!?!) .NET experience (hell, it's only been out two years!) and you've got to stay on top of this stuff.

I've also been toying with the idea of releasing the Jesser.org code for people to install on their own servers. It's been loads of work and I'm a pretty big believer in open source. But I'll have to think on it. Packaging it and making configuration modules would be time-consuming. Hmmmm …

I'd better get back to work.

Always Good for a Laugh

I just got a call from some guy from “Associated Builders” who, after I'd said hello, promptly asked me if my mom was home. I explained to him that I am, in fact, 23 and my mom doesn't live with me anymore. He sounded pretty embarassed. He had the wrong number.

I have a really high voice and I'm frequently mistaken for being a kid over the phone. Hilarious.

Dinner, Presents, Weather

We made quesadillas last night. We frequently put pepperjack cheese and spinach in them, but last night we did mexican cheese, black beans and ground beef. Sooooo good. Not that we don't still love the spinach ones.

I've got to find a mother's day gift for my mom, and birthday gifts for Matt and his brother (they have the same birthday, which falls on Mother's Day this year). I already know what I'm getting Matt (I won't, of course, put that here because he does occasionally read this) I've just got to get it. May is always a busy month. I like busy though. It works for me.

It was really nice yesterday, and it's not so bad today, but it's going to get all nasty this weekend. Which means, I guess, that we'll be spending time at home. That's OK though. Staying at home can be reallly nice.

This 'n' That

The photos came from Yahoo! I am pretty impressed with their speed and quality. So all's well that ends well. Matt and I will be working on an album for them this weekend.

The online France album is almost done, but I'm missing a bit of narrative, because I don't remember some sequences of events and the name of this one town we stopped in. I should have written it down! So I'm hoping my sister can fill me in.

Idol last night sucked. None of them did Gloria Estefan's songs justice. But I liked Latoya the best so I voted for her. It was a real pain to vote. I couldn't get thru 'til like 40 minutes afterwards. Luckily real voting is easier. Just a nice 'lil absentee ballot to fill in. Except this year I may not vote at all. I don't like any of the candidates. When did the world get so wonky? Can I write in Jon Stewart? He amuses me.

Ah. Back to working.
