Ick!

Last night I asked Matt to put together a lunch for me. I suggested he put the chowder we'd made into a salsa jar for me. Well this morning, when I came down, it was in a ziploc container. So I just grabbed it since I didn't have time to monkey with it. Somewhere between home and work, it exploded. Luckily it was in a bag, but it exploded all over my other foodstuffs … my apple, my yogurt, my packets of oatmeal … ICK! So I got to spend the first few minutes at work cleaning up clam chowder. This is not going to be indicitive of my day. It isn't.

Yesterday was a pretty good day … except … When I went to work out, I kicked my butt and did some real nice cardio, then I moved on to weights. About 4 exercises into my set, I found myself dizzy and sorta numb. So I went over and sat down on a chair and had a load of water and put my head between my knees, and all that. I didn't really feel better. I actually didn't know if I could drive myself home. So I called Matt. He was at least 30 min away, so I changed clothes (oh the pain of it) and I drove myself home. Then I collapsed on the futon mattress and watched some Tivo. What did I do before Tivo? Does anyone recall? Hmmm … Anyhow, I'm not sure if I overdid it or if I was still a little sick, but I have resovled to tone it down today.

Urgh

I'm writing this from a very tiny last-century computer (circa 1999). It's a bit pathetic, but it'll do the job …. once the job starts. I'm waiting to get some help with a project … anyhoo. I'm not feeling my best today. I actually went home sick from work yesterday. I should probably do the same thing again today, but I won't, because I need my precious vacation days. Indeed, I would really like to make up the half-day I lost yesterday, but I fear I will not have the stamina today to work an extra hour. More's the pity. I guess there's always unpaid leave.

I slept LOTS yesterday. And I watched some Tivo. I had a bunch of episodes of the Barefoot Contessa backed up on my Tivo. I don't really like the Barefoot Contessa herself. She says “fabulous” a bit too often and reminds me in some ways of Martha Stewart, although I can't imagine Martha sans footwear. Anyhoo, despite not really lurving the BC herself, I enjoy her cooking. She made some really interesting stuff yesterday … chicken with peanut satay sauce and spanikopeda (which I could easily make myself) and a strawberry topiary (easy also). Very cool.

I've also got a backlog of projects to work on. I have yet to break out my new silk-screening system for anything more than a quick perusal and Matt got a dremel for Christmas as well, which has its own website and a myriad of projects. Maybe I can work on some of those tonight.

What a Weekend

We've had a very fully weekend. Friday after work, Matt and I cleaned the basement. Which mainly consisted of taking the pile of crap in the middle and making neater piles of it, in proper categories, along the sides. Also breaking down tons of boxes. Having done that, we went out to dinner with my mommy at this fun little Mexican restaurant called Los Arcos that had pretty good food and a killer Mariachi band. Stomachs full, we pressed on and went to see The Incredibles at the cheapies. Excellent movie. Loved loved loved it. Will buy it on DVD ASAP.

Saturday morning, we woke up and went over to Mike & Holly's. Holly and I sewed some pillows and Mike and Matt did errr …. something. I know it involved a window and a beam, but beyond that I am confused.

Then we had to book it to the grocery store to pick up dinner makings and then book it back home to get it a bit more …err … ship shape before the evening. Because last night was … Cousins Night. All of my younger cousins (4 of them, raining from 4-14) came over. We made quesadillas and milkshakes, watched Napoleon Dynamite, played Pictionary, and watched Bill & Ted's excellent adventure. This morning, we got up and went to Gunther Toody's and had diner breakfast. It was … OK. I certainly liked it less than when I went there as a kid. Then the number of cousins diminished by half and we went back to our house and started to play Worms.

Near the end of the first round, we looked over and May had started shaking violently. That lasted for about a minute and then she was sort of … out of it. Obviously, she'd had a seizure. So we took her to emergency vet and they looked at her, but couldn't do much for her. So we brought her home.

Now we're keeping an eye on her and worrying about her. She's such a good doggie friend.

Weekend Over!

We had a great weekend. It wasn't really busy, but we did a lot. We went to my Aunt and Uncle's house on Friday for dinner. We had a very nice dinner and got to see my cousin's new Kitten, which is a Norwegian Forest Cat, like the ones on this page and he's adorable! So that was fun.

On Saturday, we ran errands in the morning. As part of the errands, we joined Bally Total Fitness, which I'm pretty psyched about, sinc e they have locations very close to both work and home. About that time, some friends called and we spent the remainder of the day at their house doing various projects and hanging out, which was a very good time.

That night, we went out to dinner at a local italian retaurant for dinner and then we went to the theatre to see In Good Company, which was awesome. I just loved Topher Grace. He's v. adorable.

This morning we got up and did a few things around the house, ran a quick errand and then we went to breakfast at The Briarwood Inn. Sadly, after brunch, Matt and I were obligated to come home and have a short Good Eats marathon and a nap. Then we visited B&N so I could get Meg Cabot's newest book, Every Boy's Got One. I can't wait to read it! I love her books. Anyhow, after that, we watched Exteme Home Makeover and had some pizza.

Now we're at home again, and we're getting ready for the week. Here's to a good weekend!

Busy to the nth Degree

Well, in case you can't tell, I've been mad busy lately. Between Christmas stuff and my TWO (2) jobs and having a new house, somehow my blog is getting left in the dust. I'm still here though and I'm anxious to blog another day. I'd like to write about some of the projects we've done around the house, but I know better. Those have pictures attached to them and I *really* don't have the time to do the pictures thing.

So…. TV sounds good. DId any of you see WifeSwap this week? I watched it last night off TIvo and I felt SOOO sorry for that ultra-rigid family and especially their daughter. I mean, the rockers may not have been the greatest parents in the world, but at least they never openly favored their son or told their daughters that they hated her?!?!

And how sad is it for these people to think that th is family is all “devil worshipers” just because they wear black and have tattoos and piercings?! I'm still not sure exactly what one has to do with the other. I was really glad to see the baptist wife loosen up a bit and see that she'd been narrow minded, but her husband was a different story. Huuuuge jerk, without an ounce of flex to him and beyond that, I don't think I ever saw him do anything loving towards anyone in his family. Just sad.

Trials and Tribulations and Christmas Shopping

I'm taking a small break after finishing a big job. I've been trying for two days now to add some more pictures of our house, but my camera and my computer are fighting it out and it appears that my computer is slowly defeating my camera's spirit. Bad computer. So no pics yet, though I'm dying to get them up.

The last two days have been very busy. I've been working and then doing social sort of things after work. That's been enjoyable, but I really just want to go home and have a “normal” evening. That's the plan for tonight and with a little luck, it'll work out!! I can't wait to just veg in front of my computer and Tivo and get a little more work done for Artamation and it's CafePress Shop.

Last night I got a very important piece of Christmas shopping done. I ordered a couple of gifts online, but I'm not saying from where cuz at least one person receiving one of these gifts reads this … Continue reading “Trials and Tribulations and Christmas Shopping”

What's Goin On

Hopefully, today ends my internet-hiatus. Since we moved in, we haven't had internet, which hasn't involved me visiting a methadone clinic only because we have been soooo busy doing everything else. But today (hopefully) that is over and I'll have net again!!!

So busy busy busy. I've been working and all and then working on getting our house in order in the evening. That's mostly about unpacking boxes (you would not believe how many books we've got!!) and getting a few other things in order. Last night, for example, we got our new washer/dryer. They're made by Fisher Paykel, a company out of New Zealand that's supposed to make excellent stuff. Most importantly though, they fit pretty easily into our fairly shallow laundry closet. It was a bit of a chore, especially since we had to return the first washer since it was dented and wouldn't get level … but they're in and when I get home (early since it's a holiday) I'll be doing some laundry first thing!! Wait. I'm excited about doing laundry. Something's wrong. And like I said, we're getting internet today, which of course means that we're getting cable today and phone because for some reason, Comcast offers phone and it's cheaper than the phone company with all of those nice little extras. And with phone, I'll be able to activate my new baby … my Tivo!! The media junkie is about to really get her fix.

But heavily trumping the house stuff is my sis coming home today!! That's right … miss Kelly will be here at 7 PM this evening and the good times will start err … rolling. To add to the fun, we've got the newest volume of karaoke revolution and it's got … duet mode. We'll be trying it out reaaaaal soon!!

Ch .. ch … ch … changes

Well … tomorrow I'm starting my new job. I'm going to be working for my mom's company (the business my grandpa started oh-so-many-years ago) doing a variety of things. Until the new year, I'll be working in the training/education/safety department working on new tracking methods and forms to keep things running smoothly. In the new year, I'll be working on some warranty work as well. I'm super-super excited to be working within the family biz and I'm really excited to be doing the work I'm doing. It's going to be so exciting.

And in other news, I acquired a new cell phone today. It's a kickass camera phone and so in the near future, I may have some sort of a MoBlog. I'll have to work on that. Continue reading “Ch .. ch … ch … changes”

Fixed!

Finally, my computer is fixed. They replaced just about every part in it (I dunno why they didn't just send me an entirely new one, but whatever). So now I'm back in comission and working hard to make gains.

In other “news” I've been watching Jetsons from Netflix. I really liked the show when I was little, but now it seems kinda … silly. And I can't believe how sexist it is. It's amazing that they advanced technology (albeit in some pretty silly directions) and they didn't advance sexual politics one bit.

Also, I've found two new shows that I really like. One is Veronica Mars, which is a show about a teen private eye who works with her dad . There's some long-term plot arcs and intrigue, and it's really well done. Tuesdays 9/8 c on UPN. Wifswap is the other one I like. It's really interesting, paticularly from a sociological point of view. I don't know when that's on. Mom TIVOs it and we watch it later.

Tosh and Rot

I've been neglecting Jesser.org shamefully, and for that I am sorry. But really, it's Matt's fault. He bought me SIms 2, and I've been playing that like crazy allll weekend. Sad, really. Anyhoo, things have been going well.

On Thursday, we went to The Fort to celebrate my parents' 32nd wedding anniversary. That was pretty spiffy. The Fort is a really interesting restaurant (a true Colorado original). It focuses on game meat, buffalo (bison) in paticular. So they have stuff like buffalo sausage and steaks. Plus they have quail and venison and the like. The restaurant itself is an adventure too. It's this cool-looking adobe building decorated in old west style. The servers all wear costumes and, maybe it sounds cheesy, but it's really well done and classy.

This weekend, besides simming and work, we watched a couple of movies I hadn't seen before. We went to the theatre and saw Wimbledon with Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany. I really recommend this movie! It's a nice, light, romatnic comedy, and it's pretty well done and has some plot surprises. Paul Bettany's adorable too. We also Netflixed Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. That was kinda trippy/cute. I'm glad I didn't see it in the theare, but it was worth a (cheap) rental. I think i'd like to read the book, maybe. There were some elements of the movie that were a bit disjointed. Kinda funny tho.
