Snow(y) Day
Well it's one cold and snowy day here in CO. I'm almost wishing that I'd taken off today instead of Friday because man would it have been nice to just lie in bed this morning and watch the snow fall, followed by a day of sitting and reading and drinking tea.
But then I mightn't have gotten all the stuff done that I did get done on Friday. Suffice to say it wasn't my whole list, but it was pretty impressive. Continue reading “Snow(y) Day”
Thursday is the New Friday!
Well this week anyhow. With all the *everything* that I've been doing, I feel like I really need a bit of time to knock a few things off my to-do list. The hosue is a wreck and things need to be culled-through and organized. I thought I'd have some time to do that sort of stuff this week, but no, I've been unnaturally tired and going to bed at like 8 and 9 o'clock. What's up with that??
Today I feel a bit better. So hopefully after I get off work, go to the store, make dinner, and do a bit of clean-up, I'll be able to sneak in a few minutes watching TV or playing Sims 2 Night Life. Wouldn't that be nice? I also need to work on a few little projects. Like updaing my links pages on Jesser. Adding some new photos and a host of other things. I'm going to need to make a list. Play Time
I definitely have conflicting feelings about being an adult. Driving? Awesome. Paying taxes? Ugh. Income not based upon allowance? Woohoo! Working? Blah. This is one of those weeks when I'd give quite a bit not to be an adult … not that I'd want to be five. But back in college might be nice.
See what I'm missing this week is play time. The week after Christmas was always playtime. We'd spend scads of time in our pajamas hanging out in front of the TV and computer, playing games. We'd go to the mall to return gifts and stay for dinner and a movie. We'd eat leftovers and take naps.
Now, though, I'm between. I don't have enough vacation (i.e. seniority) to just hang out after Christmas and I am no longer in school, so I don't automatically get a break. So 7 AM finds me at work and a little grumpy about it. I'm tired and where I really want to be is at home with Matt and Loki playing computer games and going to the dog park and goofing around. *sigh*
Christmas is Coming …
We had a totally brilliant weekend. Matt spent all of last week eagerly anticipating/receiving/putting together the parts for his new built-from-scratch computer. I had gotten some extra side-work and so we were able to replace Matt's computer last week after it having been effectively dead for almost 3 months. He bought lots of new parts and salvaged what he could from the old machine. So we spent lots of Friday night building that. I'm sure he'll make a long post about that.
Saturday evening was my company Holiday party, which was a lot of fun. It was held at the Walnut Foundry in LoDo (lower downtown Denver). I spent that morning with Matt, going to the gym, having lunch, etc. and then Holly came over and she and I worked on baby announcements and invites and thank-yous and she painted my toes and then did my hair and make-up for the big party. The party was great and it was really nice to see everyone dressed up! I even wore a little black dress, which is very out of character for me. I got lots of nice compliments on my attire and jewelry, and I could honestly say, almost all of it came from Target. Continue reading “Christmas is Coming …”
Is this the Face of a Juvenile Delinquent?
Apparently so. See, little Loki has been going to doggy daycare since we got him fixed. He loves it. He gets to play with loads of other dogs. We love it because he comes home so tired there is little room for mischief making. But there's one teensy little problem.
Loki has been picking fights at doggy daycare. Not just one or two. Lots. Usually with larger male dogs. He's starting to see the people there as his people and the place as his place and so he's getting protective of them. We already had him take a two-week break, hoping that this would cure his attachment to the place, but it seems like it was for not.
So now I'm madly searching the internet trying to figure out how to cure this little aggressiveness problem. Because, I swear, if he gets kicked out of doggy daycare, I'll go postal.

Money Matters!
I was surfing around on MSN (they have some of the most interesting and useful articles, I swear) when I came across this little gem. It's a lovely article about saving $$ on a shoestring budget, though I think the tips are applicable to just about everyone.
The article talks about little tricks, tips and techniques to use when you're trying to save. Like:
* spare change savings plans some banks are offering where they round up your purchase and deposit the change into a savings account (there's also a credit card out there that's putting a percentage in a high-yield account too).
* auto transferring funds each month, so you don't miss what's not there
* don't overpay taxes: reduce your witholding to the proper amount and deposit the savings – the government holds them and gives you NO interest
* bank your raise: put that extra 3% or 5% directly in savings as though you didn't get a raise at all
Anyhoo, thought I'd pass the wealth of knowledge along. We can all use a little more jingle in our pockets, I'm sure.
