Last night was Sixteen Candles at Film on the Rocks. The movie is always the highlight for me, but before the movie, they usually have a band or two and a comedian to keep everyone amused 'til the sun goes down. Usually these bands are pretty good … the type you might pay a few pesos to see in a club or whatnot.
But last night, we had an experience that I wish I could personally share with all of you, simply because my description of it will not do it justice … not because it was good. Mr. P@cman was the opening act for last night and they were … crap. Apparently, they're a local “bitpop/gamewave” band. Their show was much more than music … it included bikini-clad go-go dancers, outrageous retro futuristic space suits and crustacean costumes. They threw juice boxes at the audience for some reason we never could figure out. In the beginning it was kind of “they're weird, how funny.” But their music just made it loud and annoying. Bad hard rock, with sampled 8-bit video game tunes and some screaming over top of that. And the go-go dancers. They also liked to say “summer.” A lot. We could have had a drinking game.
But they made for really good fodder for us … Continue reading “Are They Joking??”

When
Then we completed our “day off” with errands and laundry.
My sister recommended we get Lily Allen's CD, “Alright, Still” for my mom for her b'day, so I got to listen to it when I was riding around in her car last week. It is a really fun CD, with interesting poppy melodies and edgy, quirky lyrics. I especially love the song, Alfie, where she's trying to motivate her stoner brother to “get off his lazy arse.”
I know everyone read these books like ages ago, but I have had Da Vinci code sitting on my shelf for over a year (maybe two) and I'm finally getting to read it now … albeit in very small doses before I pass out at bedtime. I'm really enjoying the story a lot. I also just started the audio book of Angels and Demons. Apparently The Solomon Key is coming out in October. I reserved a copy at the library … I'm 274 of 275 holds for the audio book and they're only ordering 4 copies. I have a better chance of getting the Harry Potter book on CD … I'm 276 of 303 holds, but at least they're getting 30 copies of that!!

I had to share this with you all. A gentleman I used to work with, Richard Couillard, a friend of his, Bob, and Baloo the dog are in the midst of a two month journey down the Mississippi river on the BGB (Bob's Geriatric Barge). Richard's wife, Jessie, is getting phone updates from them and posting them to a blog for all of us to enjoy.
I really want to blog, but my mind is too jumbled up with things right now. The last few days have just flown by in a haze of trips to Target, fun with friends and family, laundry, and Tabbiness. We haven't been home that much, but somehow, the house is still a mess. I've really got to get on it tonight because our cleaning person is coming tomorrow and I don't want my stuff hidden for good.
