Weekend Adventures

We had a very very nice weekend. So nice that I hardly got anything useful done, but that's OK. It happens. On Fri, my parents and sister came over. We had some lambrusco and a lotta pizza and a little salad and watched Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgandy, which was veyr good for some silly laughs.

We got up bright and early on Saturday and drove into the mountains to take pictures. The results of that trip are represented above and will be posted in greater detail at a later date. Since we've had so much moisture so far this year, there were lots of beautiful wild flowers and green green green. Loki had an excellent time smelling all of the new smells.

Saturday afternoon, we took my cousin Tessa out for a long-awaited birthday celebration (her b'day is in January). We went to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants which I highly recommend, along with the books that spawned it. We did a little shopping and had dinner at Buca di Beppo. Can you say more pizza?Sunday was our low-key day. And also our Loki day. We went grocery shopping and did all that other mundane stuff that must be done on Sunday so that Monday morning isn't a frantic mess.

We watched a little Stargate, worked around the house and made dinner. After dinner, we decided to go for a walk. One of the area's largest lakes is about a 4 blocks from our development, so we took little Loki and walked down there. It was pretty deserted (it'd been a rainy day, though by this time, it had cleared off) so we let Loki run free a little and practiced getting him to come back to us with just voice commands (not one hitch!). When we got down to the lake, we got some sticks and started throwing them in for him. He was hesitant at first (he always has been) and didn't like getting to where he had to swim. I think his sheperd half was fighting with his retriever half. But before long, we could hardly get him out of the water. He went right to his box when he got home and fell asleep.
