Wrapped Up in All the Fun

Matt and I started wrapping the gifts destined for CO last night. Man I love wrapping gifts. You put a lil' Christmas music in the stereo or pop a Christmas movie in the VCR (or DVD) and pull out your supplies and it's instant Christmas spirit. I love speculating how people will react to our gifts, especially the ones we've made and I get to spend time with my Matt. He's pretty good company.

We're prolly going to go on a field-trip this weekend. I don't know if we'll got to Chicago or Milwaukee yet. I want to visit an American Science & Surplus shop. They've got tons of cool stuff … I think it'd be really fun. So there's stores in both Chicago and Milwaukee. Milwaukee has some cool things, including an awesome art museum that Matt hasn't yet been to and the traffic is much easier to handle. Chicago on the other hand is further away and a freakin' madhouse. You spend half your time in traffic or fighting a crowd of some sort. But they've got Ikea and California Pizza kitchen and CB2.

Of course on the other hand (I'll have to borrow one from Matt, I'm all out), Christmas shopping is mostly done, so there's no real reason that way to go to Chicago (or Milwaukee for that matter) and I need to do Christmas cards, some work and clean the house. Maybe that's a better use of the weekend. Plus, we're going to have to say bubye to the puppy pretty soon. So maybe we can take her to a park or something.

Good Morning!

I'm feeling better this morning. I had a very good night of sleep (a change from the past two days). I guess it helps to be dead tired. I've just had a lovely bowl of oatmeal, and I'm ready to get set working.

But not just yet. So I'm planning to spend the next few minutes surfing. I'll go visit the Alias Boards, next, I think. I've got some questions about the episode last night (it was SOOOO good!) and they'll have some answers. Then I've got to order some new perscriptions at Walgreens.com. And I'll have to check on some new Sims downloads at SimsShowcase. And of course, maybe they'll have some new crafts to look at over at Craftster. And of course, what would some surfing be without a visit to CookingLight.com to check out their new features. Then I'll work!

mmmm … Turkey

I love Thanksgiving. The weather is getting colder, our AC is freezing over , Thanksgiving food is always good , the new recipes we tried this year were great, and you don’t have to go to work. But the reason I like Thanksgiving the most is that is signals the start of the Christmas Season!

Giving Thanks for Thanksgiving

I've always enjoyed Thanksgiving, but now I enjoy it even more. Kelly comes to visit and we spend a week hanging out, watching movies, playing video games and board games and shopping for Christmas. It's a most excellent time.

I've got all sorts of fun things planned. We're going to rent a bunch of video games, including Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Simpsons: Hit and Run. I'm also thinking about Karaoke Revolution (the bastard sibling of Dance Dance Mix Revolution).

It's been a very nice Sunday. It's been raining since last night (a few breaks) and we've got a nice pot of soup simmering on the stove and the rain falling outside and Rush Hour is on TBS. Perfect evening.

Saturday Mornings

Matt works very hard all week, so he likes to sleep in on Saturday mornings. Since I get regular sleep, I'm always ready to go, so I do. I like to get up and eat a bit of brekkie and then have a nice workout and then a go on the computer. Early morning web surfing is the best. I seem to find all the most amusing things at that time.

This morning, I've been signing up for catalogs. I get an astonishing number of them already, but there's always room for more (forgive me, trees).

This morning, I signed up for a Sephora catalog. Of course, if you know me, that might be a bit of a head-scratcher as I wear no makeup on a daily basis and try to keep my morning routine to a paltry 15 minutes or so. But I do enjoy some of their bath sort of stuff, plus there's always gifties to be bought for my lov-ed ones.

We've got to go get haircuts today. I'm having a couple inches trimmed off the mullet (it's been growing, unchecked since April) and Matt is dying to get rid of his Einstein hair. I think his Einstein hair is very cute, but he deplores having to do anything besides washing it, so he wants a quick cut too. And, lucky for me, Oprah and Supercuts gave everyone a 50% off coupon. So guess where I'm going.

It's Getting to Be that Time of Year …

Well it's not even Thanksgiving yet and I'm knee deep in Christmas preparations. I've got tons of stuff to do. But I love this time of year. It's cold and you're bustling around getting things done and it's great. I like all the stuff to do and the weather and the music. Now if it would just snow! It's mid November in Wisconsin and NO SNOW! What the heck?

I think it's definitely time to make a Christmas Mix CD. What should go on it?

+ Santa Baby (Ertha Kitt or Madonna though?)
+ Little St. Nick (Muppets, definitely)
+ 12 Days of Christmas (Muppets, definitely)
+ Sleigh Ride (Harry Conick Jr. or Brian Setzer?)
+ God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (Barnaked Ladies, definitely)
+ Must be Santa
+ Jingle Bell Rock
+ Silent Night (Enya)
+ Carol of the Bells (Manheim Steamroller)
+ The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Nat King Cole)

I'll have to make a nice CD for Matt. He loves Christmas.

Hurrah for a Weekend

We've been quite busy this weekend. We went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean on Friday. I really liked that movie. We spent a lot of Saturday doing errands and working. I found some great stocking-stuffers for my family. Then we went bowling and played video games with some friends. I'm a pathetic bowler. I didn't break 100 in any of our games and I got progressively worse as the night went on. I dunno what's up with that.

Today, I'm going to do some more work, clean and I might just veg out for a few hours. That would be nice!!!!

No Way!

I can't believe it's already November. Madison has yet to see snow, although it was threatening yesterday. Today it just looks vaguely icky out (cold, overcast) but not like it might start raining down flakes at any moment.

Today is the last day of the farmers' market, so we should really go, but Matt hasn't even made it out of bed yet and it's cold!

We're going to go get SUSHI tonight. Yum! Hopefully this place will be good. We had skads of good sushi restaurants back in Nashville, and we've found a couple here, but they've been either overpriced or icky. And as I think this is the last one in the city to try … I'm really hoping it's good.

We also get to do the ultra-fun task of cleaning! Yes, folks, it's time to drag out the vacuum and act like we're not slobs. At least I get to use my lovely new wireless headphones to listen to music or TV while I work though.
