Fall TV!!

I'm totally psyched up for fall TV!!! I can't wait for new episodes of my favorite shows to start. The O.C. premiered last week, followed up by the new show, Reunion, which will garner a season pass in my Tivo line-up. Gilmore Girls starts tonight (Luke and Lorelai!! … and wtf is going on w/ Rory??!). Veronica Mars won't be back for TWO WEEKS yet, and I just don't know if I can stand the supspense. And of course, I'm totally looking forward to Desparate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. Grab some popcorn and your Tivo remote and get giddy for fall premieres!

What shows are you looking forward to?

Living 101 and Othe Great Magazines

While picking up some groceries and other miscellaneous Junk at Safeway on Friday, I came across Living 101. It's published by the same folks who publish Sunset, which is a magazine dedicated to living in the West, which is great for me (obviously).

This magazine isn't specifically about western living, though. It's about being young and having not so much $$ and quite a bit of time (since we're sans kids, as of yet) and making the most of it. It features low budget projects and travel and tips on gardening without a real garden. A primer on living for the >30 set. It's only available on newstands right now, but I'm loving it and I hope they start publishing it reguarly.

I'm getting more and more into magazines and I now find myself with a bunch of favorites that I like to pick up. Continue reading “Living 101 and Othe Great Magazines”

Stuck in My Head

I'd nearly forgotten that Ani tagged me with a music meme:

List ten songs that you are currently digging … it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're no good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the ten songs in your blog. Then tag five other people to see what they're listening to.

5 to tag: Jess, Meg, Wil, Tania and Alton. One day, someone famous will actually take my tag. Haha.

10. Sex and the City Theme (it's one of the rings on my phone .. hehe)
9. Shopping by Barenaked Ladies
8. Sway by Bic Runga
7. Valley Winter Song by Fountains of Wayne
6. Shine by Collective Soul Continue reading “Stuck in My Head”

Surprise

On Friday when I was coming home from work, I stopped by Target and picked up Stronghold 2 for Matt. I got home and he had gone out to get us some lunch and so I went up to his office and put it on his desk. I kinda forgot about it after that. He came home and we had our lunch and then he went back upstairs while I cleaned up.

I was loading the dishwasher when he came down and gave me a big happy hug and kiss. I just love to surprise him. He's an excellent candidate for a surprise.

PS. Anyone else think that dude looks like Keanu Reeves?

Harry Potter and the Chocolate Factory Extravaganza

Or was it the Charlie and the Half-Blood Prince Extravaganza? The world may never know.

In either case, the night before we left for Bahamas, we hit the opening night of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was amazing, and stood in line with a few folks to pick up our copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a moderate departure from Willy Wonka, made in the 70s. Johnny Depp was delightfully quirky and cool as he showed the well-cast youngsters around his factory. Whatever bonehead drew a comparison between him and Jacko should have his head examined. WW doesn't even like the kids.

The visuals for this were amazing as well. It is a shade darker than the previous adaptation which makes for more rich and interesting colors. One place I think it's got it made all over the old veresion is the lack of stupid songs. There's no “Cheer up Charlie” and generally there's a lot less moaning period. They get right to the story and don't add all that junk. And did I mention Johnny Depp?? Very enjoyable.

Mixed Bag

This weekend was such a mixed bag. Lots of fun/good/neat stuff happened and the reverse as well. Friday I went to dinner with my mom and sis. Then we picked up Matt at the airport (yea!) and we went to see Bewitched. Truly excellent movie. We all really enjoyed it. When we got home, we found that Mr. Loki had messed his box (kennel). We got to spend a generous half hour cleaning out his box. Eeeeew!

Saturday started out poorly. I was grumpy and Matt as grumpy and we basically managed to argue for most of the morning. But we got it together and had a nice day together running errands and the like, including running to Super Target to get the ingredients for a new recipe, Jerk Chicken. We got home, did some housey stuff and made the marinade for the chicken. Then we took Loki down to Standley Lake. We rode our bikes and he ran along side us and took the occasional swim.

When we got home, we fired up the BBQ and got ready to cook the chicken. Matt had the corn on the grill and had set out the chicken. Loki was inside with us, but he started to get into trouble, so we sent him outside. Just after I had closed the door, Matt realized the chicken was unguarded. I had thought it was on the grill. I ran back just in time to see him grab a drumstick from the bowl. We chase him around the back yard and thought we got him to drop it and put him inside while we searched for the chicken. But we couldn't find it and came to the conclusion he swallowed it. We called the vet and asked about it and they told us to wait and see. Continue reading “Mixed Bag”

How Psyched Are You?????

Well it probably cannot even touch my level of anticipation on this one. I really love the story (Roald Dahl is just incredible anyhow) and Johnny Depp as WW?!?! Shut up. That's going to be absolutely tooo perfect. So heres the plan. Opening Night Tix + Lotsa Candy + Lotsa Cool People = WW Opening Night Extravaganza. I cannot wait for July.

Car Dancing

I am one of those idiots. And I don't care if people see me dancing in the car in the morning to some slammin tunes and think I am an idiot. I have more fun driving in my car sometimes than doing just about anything.

This morning I plugged my MP3 player into my stereo and I cranked my running play list and I car-danced the whole way to work. It's funny how making an ass of yourself is invigorating. Continue reading “Car Dancing”

Non-Dairy Creamer

I wanted some milk in my tea, this morning (Harvest Peach, for those of you interested) so I dumped a bit of non-dairy creamer in there. It's not even close to the same thing as milk. Very disappointing. It clumped all up and made my tea nasty.

It made me think of the episode of Pinky and the Brain where Brain goes to work for some huge corporation and fakes an accident in the break room involving a microwave and non-dairy creamer (because no one knows how they work) that turns him into a mouse. Great episdoe. Really, that show was genius. Sadly, it has not been released yet on DVD. Yet I notice that they have not failed to release Batman the Animated Series on DVD. Thank God no one overlooked that.

Speaking of TV. I've discovered the hilarious new TV show, My Super Sweet 16. It's about these spoiled teens and their huge, ridiculous sweet 16 parties. It's the funniest show I've seen in a long time … funny because of the tragicosity involved in it. Point your Tivo to MTV and don't miss one side-splitting episode.
