Remains of the Weekend

It was another seriously productive weekend. I'm actually feeling like we might get ready for this kiddo in time! Friday Tabby's sitter was off and after she played with Daddy in the morning, we spent the afternoon with Grammy. We were shopping fools and got some clothes for Baby Boy and a new mattress for Tabby's big girl bed. Grammy also bought a great stroller off Craigslist for a song. We met up with Daddy, Papa and Gaga for dinner and had a nice quiet evening.

Saturday we got going early with breakfast and my DVD storage project. After a while we got to take a break and go to a birthday party for a friend's kiddo. We all had a great time (but especially Tabby). We tagged on a couple of errands afterward and then came home for a nap and some more work on my project. Matt made chili for dinner and then Tabby and I finished off the project while Matt headed to his shop. Then she and I tackled her closet and got it ready to share with Baby Brother. I must've worn her out because she requested to go to bed at 8:30. I followed her a few hours later, but ended up tossing and turning for a good 4 hours having contractions (some painful) and back pain. I was kind of convinced a couple of times that baby boy might be arriving early, but nothing ever got consistent or regular and eventually things calmed down and I got my normal crappy sleep.

Sunday I got up with Tabby and made the Berry French Toast bribery. It turned out great, even though one of the loaves of French bread I used was pretty dry (custard cures all!). We hosted everyone for breakfast and then got to work on finishing the bed. It is large. It has many surfaces and faces and it took us pretty much all day. So glad we had thought to buy snacks and had lots of leftovers to feed people. My family was at our house from 9 AM to 10 PM. Tabby loved having a new person to play with every hour and was extremely well behaved all day.

She is hugely excited about her big girl bed too and I can't wait until we can put it in her room. It's still a couple of days off. The big “bed” part is completely done, but the headboard still needs to be sanded & varnished (my job, should be able to knock this out tonight) and Matt needs to make the drawers to go into the bed which hopefully will happen late this week and over the weekend. Right now he will be taking a couple of days off … he was up 'til 5 AM Sunday morning just finishing what we needed to stain!

  1. Oh, the big girl bed switchover is such a milestone. I can't wait to see a photo of Tabby in it. She's going to love it.

PS: Get some rest! I was exhausted just reading this post.

  2. I can't wait to see pictures of Matt's latest creation. We're keeping Mini in his crib until late summer early fall. He still likes it and I'm not about to take him out. I'm afraid of the consequences, even though he's showing signs of readiness. We bought a co-sleeper for #2 and we'll keep them in our room until then, I'm guessing. Best laid plans and all that. My luck, I'll be co-sleeping until college.

P.S. Dig the new design too. Now if ONLY you could get your damn cookies to work. *hides from the cranky pregnant woman*
