Things seem to be going better today. Thank goodness. We had our Mom's Group Holiday get-together last night and it was really great. I got to meet some of the moms who mostly come out for the daytime events (the ones that occur while I'm working!) and see some of my favorite people I've met before. Plus, Tabby was in the very capable hands of Ammy (Grammy) for the evening and I hear they had a great time.
After work today I've got to kick it into high gear and start getting ready for our cookie weekend which means grocery shopping, packing, cleaning up the house and probably doing laundry. I'm very excited about getting away for a little while and baking with our friends and family.
Here's the cookies I'm making or thinking about making:
• sugar cookie cutouts, decorated of course
• peppermint meringues (no chocolate cream)
• buttered rum meltaways
• linzer sandwich cookies
• cassis crisps
We'll see how it goes. It's probably a pretty ambitious list, especially when you consider that three other people will have recipes they want to try. But ingredients overlap and I'm sure we can make the final decisions once we get there. I'm really looking forward to getting the kiddos a bit more involved this year … messes and all.
