Cookin' Up a Storm

Gosh. Sorry I've been so totally behind on posting. But I'm starting to catch up. We've been doing a lot of cooking lately. We're on an anti-restaurant kick (well we're trying anyhow) so we've been very into trying some new recipes. Here are some we've enjoyed:

Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce Oh good lord this was amazing. As we were making it, Matt and I were eating spoonfuls of it out of the cuisinart. Yes, we're a bit dimented. It freezes up real well (we've got a couple of gladware tubs in the freezer) and tastes amazing. We served this over 4-cheese tortellini with some parmesean on top. Excellent.Beef with Egg Noodles This was a pretty good success for a first time recipe. Our only problem was that it came out pretty fatty. We know some stuff not to do next time … we definitely would not use the same cut of meat and we'd not add the fat that cooked off to the crock pot. That was defnitely a mistake.

Beef Stew I love crockpot recipes because you cook dinner before you ever leave for work and when you get home the house smells amazing. This is a great recipe and even the prep isn't too tedious. Perfect for the fall and winter.

Apple Spice Cake I will never shut up about how amazing this stuff is. You. Have. To. Try. It. It's really really moist and sweet, but not too sweet. mmmmmmm

Lemon Horseradish Fish Cakes These were a make-ahead and freeze 'em sort of thing that are sitting in our freezer waiting to be eaten. I'll have to let you know later how they turned out, but they smelled real promising.

  1. Ok I seriously want to make everything you listed there. In particular the fish cake recipe. Heh heh. Thanks for the recipes being listed so easy. I think I have my recipes for next week

  2. Ooops I also forgot to mention I was looking for a good beef stew recipe. This does the trick well. I was almost tempted to buy one of those freezer bags with all the crock pot ingredients in it. Heh heh.
