Dither

I'm sitting here having my lunch and May is watching me expectantly. I know she wants some food. She gets petted instead.

Spike TV is unfortunately showing a marathon of MXC (a very stupid obstacle course show) and so Star Trek is not being shown. Well I'll get over it. I've got tons to do.

I was so POed at American Idol last night. Everything was totally backwards!!!! The good singers were in the bottom three and the bad singers where in the top three. I swear – it's rigged! I've never seen it so backwards on that show. I am going to vote next week. John Stevens and Jasmine CANNOT STAY. Grrrrr.

Bedtime … Rain

Yeeeeesh!
I've stayed up practically all night working. Some things just needed to get done.

So after I worked on the cookie thing, I did a bunch of work. And then I worked on a more in-depth archives page for Jesser. It's been nice lying here in bed with the laptop, watching DVDs. Matt reaches over and snuggles up to me every now and again and sometimes punches at the keyboard. I could be out in the other room, but it's nice here. Matt smells good and he's warm.

I've been watching About a Boy. I absolutely love that movie. It's hilarious and Hugh Grant plays smarmy so well. And I always laugh out loud when he calls the mum a “Daft F*ing Hippy!” And speaking of good things to watch, Gilmore Girls was good tonight. There were some pretty good one-liners and an interesting plot. Next week looks good too … juicy.

Now I'm heading to bed and the rain is starting again. It rained off and on all day and it's back! I love the sound of the rain.

Yea!

I'm doing better and better at racquetball. I'm even enjoying myself now instead of being fairly frustrated that I keep LOSING. I'm still losing, but not as frequently and I am keeping most serves going for longer and longer. I came this close tonight (imagine me holding my fingers about 1 cm apart) to actually beating Matt in the overall match.

Gilmore Girls was really funny tonight. I loved the thing with Luke going to jail. I've got a tape of Queer Eye to watch too. That should be good.

Right now though, I'm finishing off our taxes. My very kind father did our taxes for us, so we've got to fill in some lines on the state ones and I've got to address 'em and stamp 'em and stuff. Fun fun.

Disgusting

Matt got ahold of the remote and turned The Swan on. In case you don't know, the premise of this whole show is that they take “ugly ducklings” and give them intensive makeovers (surgery, intensive therapy, 3 months of 1200 calorie diets and exercise).

Here's my issue … they don't makeover ugly ducklings. They make over normal looking girls with really bad self esteem. These girls just come out looking incredibly fake and plasticized. It seems really horrible to me that these poor girls have had their self-esteem absolutely marginalized by the people around them and the world at large around them. They need a bracing reality check far more than they need an intensive makeover.

These women (at least the two that are on tonight) have had kids!!! For god's sake. You're not going to look like you're 16 any more. GIVE IT UP.

Now I'm going to go settle down.

Saturday

Matt and I have had a nice Saturday thus far. We spent a couple of hours at the gym (treadmill, racquetball, eucalyptus steam-room), did some shopping for some up-coming gift-giving events and of course, some errands. Groceries do need to be bought on a weekly basis … bah.

Now we're at home … working on our respective computers. I've got tooo too much work to do. That's cool though. I actually kinda like working. Plus, it's Saturday, so of course, there's good TV on. I watched a great episode of Queer Eye where they got rid of the dude's mullet. Excellent! Now I'm watching The Whole Nine Yards since I hadn't seen it before and the folks on CBS are good enough to be showing it. It's kinda funny so far.

I'm missing being home right now, since Easter's tomorrow. I've always enjoyed it. We've always had a good egg-hunt in our family, but I haven't gotten to do it in a few years. But I sent home some nice Kinder-Surprise Eggs for my lil' cousins. They're choccy eggs with a little toy inside. I picked 'em up while I was in France. You can't get them here because the FDA has some silly rule about non-edible things being in edible things.

Gimme a Break!

I'm taking a break from cleaning, since I'm sneezing my head off. So I decided to take one of those “which … are you?” quizzes. And since I'm watching DS9, it had to be a which DS9 character are you quiz.

Little surprise, I'm ….

Nerdy nerd nerd nerd! Nerdy nerdy nerd nerd! Ha ha ha!

Alias. Fringe. Ick.

What the heck did Sydney do to her hair? Fringe, bangs, whatever you wanna call it … not flattering. Get some barrettes. It makes her ears look big and it also makes her look like she's about 12. I don't like it.

Now I have to watch the Wal-Mart commercial about the crazy card lady. Where are the annoyingly-hip Target commercials?

Saturday Morning

My body clock is still rather screwy, which means that I got up at 7:30 on a Sat. morning (?!!??!??). I spent a few hours doing work and then Matt and I left to run errands.

It was coupon day. We used our last coupon (1 of 3!!) for a free entree at Chin's. Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?? Well for me anyhow. Matt's cost $5. Then we went to Bed Bath and Beyond. A 20% off coupon had come in the mail and we desparately need a new toaster. The old one had a huge crack down the center since it'd been dropped too many times (don't even ask) and it was burning our toast and every once in a while it just went on strike and wouldn't work at all. So we bought a new toaster.

Our last outing was to see Cheaper by the Dozen at the cheapy movie theatre. That was such a cute movie! Sweet but not sappy. Funny, but not over the top. Luvin it.

Now we're back home to settle into a bitta work. Programming, laundry, cleaning, organization.

I do so luv weekends.

Princes and Princesses

I'm sitting here at my desk programming (well actually now I'm writing this) and watching Love Story … not pictured on the left, I might add. It's one of those classic older movies that I'd never seen before, so I decided to give it a try. I'll admit I've only been watching it half-heartedly, but it's definitely a period piece … a sappy one at that. I know it'll end badly, so that doesn't sit well with me, but I guess it's one of those train-wreck things. Plus, that guy's pretty cute.

Anyhow, they've just shown a trailer for The Prince and Me. Which is the new Julia Stiles movie … about how she meets a prince masquerading as a commoner and falls in love. Sad-Oh that I am, this is the exact type of movie that I luv. Light, airy, fluffy, with bits of humor and heavy on the romance. Princes are good too. What can I say? I'm shallow.

I'm also a bit of a royal-o-phile – Is that a word? It must be as I've just used it – as well, really. I snatch up copies of any magazine that decides to put Prince William (or Harry, I'm not picky!) on the cover … and I love those shows about the royals (not the dramatic stuff though, just the fluffy stuff). I also love The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. They're fun, interesting little books. And the newest one comes out TODAY! I'll be going to B&N later, I think.

I also found out today that Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham) is making another film. It's called Bride and Prejudice and it's a Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice with musical numbers and stuff … sounds like great fun.

Okay, I'm done blathering about my media pursuits. Oi.

Omarosa, You're Fired!

I've really enjoyed The Apprentice … with one exception. Omarosa. Every week she's been whiny, snotty, superior, and catty and now she's gone. That's right, The Donald fired her this evening. We no longer have to hear her whining about her plaster-induced injuries or endure one more of her self-righteous speeches. And I'm glad. Glad glad glad glad glad.

In other news, Miss Bad Dog (May) managed to eat 3/4 of a leftover pizza that we very unwisely left sitting on the kitchen table. It was our bad … but in our defense, she can't even make it into the back of the car on her own, so … anyhow, we're putting down a rather large plastic painting tarp this evening in the hopes that if she gets sick… well you get the idea. I hope she's OK. Ugh.
