A New Friend

Tabby and Loki have definitely always shown some interest in each other, but lately, since Tabby has had improved motor control, she takes every opportunity she has to give him a pat. Some of these pats are quite gentle … she seems to be feeling his fur (she has a thing for textures), but others are rather … vigorous. Loki is always very gentle with her, and with all little ones. And he seems to understand that they can take more as they get older. He can be running around like a crackhound and you'd swear you should move the kid before he runs him over, but he always goes around the little ones. But he does get something in return … lots of licked up leftovers.

Oh yea, and despite myriad evidence to the contrary, we do usually have Tabby in clothes. Last night, around 2 AM, we had the mother of all thunderstorms. I swear, I thought Noah was going to pull up with the Ark and be all “OK, we got two nerds. But we need another baby and another dog.” It stormed and stormed and we had ear-splitting cracks of lightning and thunder. Matt and I ran around unplugging stuff and we had Miss Tabby sleep in the p 'n' p by our bed (which we moved far away from the window!). Poor Loki was way freaked and tried to crawl under my skin. So yea … not such great sleep last night.

  1. What a cute pic of Tabby and the pup. I just know that if we had a dog Lila would torment that poor thing until it just decided to hit the road.
