Vacation Holiday

As you may or may not have guessed, I've been away the past week (yes, those were pre-recorded posts you saw). Anyhoo, Matt and his siblings (Andrew and Theresa) and I went on vacation to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. We definitely did our fair share of rest and relaxation and hand a very nice time sampling the various water activities.Originally, Matt's Dad and Stepmom had planned this very nice family vacation for all of us, but the house they're building went catawumps and they had to stay behind to get it online again. But they decided to send us along anyhow.

We flew from Denver to Nashville on Saturday. We met Matt's family for a nice dinner and some tree removal (don't ask ). On Sunday we flew from Nashville to Nassau with a little layover in Miami. The Miami to Nassau leg was my first prop-plane experience … LOUD!! The first order of business at Atlantis was to get ourselves settled and then have dinner at one of their many many gourmet restaurants. Food was lovely. We were all pretty tired, so we caught some shut-eye. Monday we slept in and got some brekkie then we hit the beach, armed with a small vat of sunscreen. We lounged and played in the water and lounged. Then Andrew, Matt and I decided to try jet-skiing. I'm a bit of a fraidy-cat, but I LOVED it!! The only small problem was the (very) salty water that sort of made your eyes sting. Tuesday Theresa, Matt and I rented Vespas. I'd never ridden on one before, but I like them, so I wanted to try. We got two … one for me & Matt and one for Theresa. We had some false starts and then once we were going pretty good, Theresa had a little spill. She was pretty scraped up, so I took over her Vespa. I turned a corner, hit some gravel and had a spill. No biggie, I got back on. Then we were in a more congested part of the city. I went through on the tail-end of a green light, but Matt waited. I pulled off and waited for him to go, as I was pulling back into traffic, another car merged into a lane, forcing me over to the side and into a parked Taxi. We had some harrowing moments of some local yelling at us and acting like he was the cops, which was a lot more frightening than the real cops who basically said … “whatever.” We were glad to turn the scooters in. But even after that, I'd still try again.

Wednesday we did some beaching in the morning and spent the afternoon playing computer games on the laptop and watching movies. Too much sun kinda wears you out after a while. Thursday was more of the same. On Friday, we all went to the spa. After some minor scheduling mis-haps and a bit of frustration, we all got at least one treatment. I had a milk bath which I really liked and another treatment I don't know the name of, which I didn't really like…

Saturday we set off for a snorkeling cruise in the morning. We got on the boat and flew out to sea. We had three stops, two on reefs where we got to get out and look at the pretty fishies, and another where we got to get out and swim with well-distracted sharks.

Sunday we went back to Nashville and yesterday, back to Denver for some Loki snuggles, napping, and reading of Harry Potter … oh yea, and Matt worked, I think.

Half the pics are on Matt's laptop, so I'll have to wait to put them up. But I'll try to do the others sometime today!!

I plan to post a more complete review of the Atlantis resort tomorrow.
