Open for Business

Well, I ended up convalesced over the weekend, so I really did very little of interest or value. I listened to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on my MP3 player (damn, that's a good book… I'd forgotten how good) and slept a lot. And my sweetie picked me up the latest Sims 2 expansion pack, which I played ad nauseum all weekend. This expansion added a bit in the way of objects, but tons on the way of game-play. It allows you to add excellent new interactions to sims who have worked their way up the entrepreneurial food chain. There's also some good new architectural stuff, including half-levels and elevators … Continue reading “Open for Business”

I don't know about you, but I've always found the stylings of RVs and travel trailers to be about as appealing as a maggoty apple. I abhor the fiberglass exteriors and the cheesy faux wood interiors. The sad thing is that they could be really really cool. Well the single manufacturer that seems to get this is Airstream. Their upper-end stuff is just as bad as the rest of the competition, but in their smaller trailers, they have their classic cool silver-capsule styling and in one of their smaller models, they even did a Quicksilver edition (shown in photos above) with some seriously cool styling. They have more of the traditional plush beige couches and “oak” cabinetry, but they also have some lovely modern interiors as well. Definitely a fun browse. Now if I can just come up with $39k and a place to stash the thing.

Unseasonably Warm

I really have nothing better to say today, so I am going to prattle on about the weather. Yes, the weather. It has been unseasonably warm here lately. It was up to 73 on Tuesday and it's supposed to go back into the 60s this weekend. It's been sort of like this all winter, though the mountains have been getting record-breaking snow fall. Good for skiing. However, it isn't uncommon for the Denver Metro area to get a nice big dump in late March or April. That's the time when we got that huge blizzard in 2003 that crushed roofs and dumped 10' of snow on our friends in Evergreen (about 20 min from where we live!). Continue reading “Unseasonably Warm”

An Update

So we did the Dinner and Dish thing on Monday night. They had slotted us to complete the 12 entrees in 2 hours, but we tag-teamed it and got them together in an hour.

Basically, they have food-prep stations set up with instructions and you take pre-labeled ziplocs (or your 9×13 pan) and go thru and prepare the food. Most of it is pretty simple. There were certain things, like burritos or calzones that you have to set up assembly line style that took a bit longer, but overall, simple and easy. But the beauty of it is that everything was chopped for you and had the right measuring spoons in it, etc. They're pretty complete in their preparations including sending us off with a packet of skewers for the chicken satay and a bag of pasta for one of the pasta sauces. We haven't tasted any of the dishes yet, but I will report back on their yumminess (or theoretical lack there of). Continue reading “An Update”
