When I go to the library, I turn into a four-year-old again. It's amazing what walking into that building does to me. Libraries are so full of potential and knowledge and possibilities and fun and I'm instantly returned to my youth. My mom would take my sister and I to the library on a regular basis. We'd pick all the books we could carry and bring them home and have bedtime stories with both our parents every night (or what seemed like every night). So many of those books are still with me … their stories, lessons and characters … and so is my love of reading and learning.
Before I moved away, I had no idea how amazing our libraries are… not just my county, but Denver public libraries are very very highly ranked and with good reason. As I'm getting back into the groove of using the library, I'm constantly amazed at what is available: practically anything I want to read or watch or listen to is available through the public library. But I have to remind myself that its there too! Amazon gives me recommendations and rather than pull out my credit card, I plug them into the catalog online and order them right up. Cookbooks, DVDs, novels, books on CD, it's so great that I can read and read and not be stuck with a book (and a $8 price tag) if I don't like it.
I feel so lucky to have this amazing resource right in my own back yard.
Check out some of my favorite books!
