The Good and the Annoying

The Annoying
+ Two bowls of the same size sticking together because you put them away wet/hot
+ Not being able to find the proper adapter to plug your wireless headphones receiver into the TV
+ Matt going away on business for 3 days
+ cleaning the house
+ consistently losing to Matt at racquetball
+ Matt working 'til 5 tonight even though he has a half day

The Good
+ managing to get them apart without breaking them by using something you learned in physics class (?!?!)
+ a Star Trek DS9 marathon to watch whether or not you've got your wireless headphones (hey, I can vacuum during commercials!)
+ Matt coming home after three days away on business
+ having a clean house
+ losing by progressively smaller margins to Matt
+ Matt gets a half day of comp time so we don't have to drive all night to get to Nashville when his sister graduates in May

Life is all about perception.

The Search for a Gym Bag

I'm trying to find a new gym bag. You know, one that will actually hold everything I need so I don't accidently leave my running shoes by the door when I leave. But man is it frustrating.

I want something that's stylish and has good pockets and is waterproof and is a good color and is the right size and it'd be just peachy if it's under $50 since that's the amount of Christmas money (yes, I nerdily save my Christmas money for things like this …) I've got left.

Anyhow, I checked a few of the big boxes yeterday. The new Galyans by us had the best selection, but nothing that really suited me. And I also checked the huge selections at Amazon and Ebags. But nothing there worked either.

Now I'm looking at Nike. Their websites scare me. Everyone on their is strangely intense. Like little children will be murdered if they don't run the mile in 4 minutes. They've also gone all “stylish” with they're stuff. But it ain't my style. It's just … weird. No no, Nike. I don't want a gym bag that looks like a bowling bag. I don't want a gym bag that's a rolling suitcase (what the heck??). I don't want one that's all squarish. I don't want one that's black!! Well I guess black's OK, but not if it has your stupid huge logo all over it!!

Adidas.com … useless! Reebok.com …. What the heck is that Kylie Minogue look alike doing on their front page? Kylie Minogue or not … doesn't even sell bags online!

I've just had a brainstorm. My mom sent me a Title 9 Catalog. I should check their website. They've got six bags. None of which I'd be embarassed to carry, in fact, some of them are quite cute. OOh! I really like that one. Not to big, not too small. And it comes in black AND purple. A bit expensive, but not in comparison to the other's I've seen ($90 to advertise for Nike. I think not!). Have I found it??? Yep. That's it.

War Over??

What the heck is going on? Am I the only one who can see that the war ain't over? Who the heck declared it over? The news media? (Best Dr. Nick Voice: ) I'm so sick of those guys. Every day we've got like 10 reports of people being blown up. It's all very depressing. Even I (and I don't watch the news) can't escape seeing it. I might buy that we've achieved an objective over there. But there's a war still going on.

Anyway, I'll stop that. I don't like to include politicky things here because it causes dissent and contention and my blog is a happy place. But I guess I just don't want to forget that we've got lots of people over there who are risking their lives for the rest of us.

Anyhow. I've been very busy latley. Matt and I finally bit the bullet and joined a health club. Mainly because we want to play racquetball again. We played quite a bit in college and I know we've both missed it. Anyway, a new club around here was giving out some good good rates and their terms worked v. well for us, so we joined up on Monday. We've been playing lots of racquetball. I'm getting better, I think. Matt has beaten me in 4 of 5 games. But I did win one!!

BTW: The women on the view annoy me. Ever heard that saying that the most brilliant people don't say much? Yea, well I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Logo Game

This version of the LogoGame deals with clothing labels. I was happy to get 14 of them. I know P, U, W, and E all look familiar. But I can't quite place them. Note that most of the answers begin with the challenging letter, but not all …

Well … here are my answers in white, so you will have to highlight them to see them, in case you want to do it on your own. Let me know if you figure out any others …

A – Adidas, B – Burberry, D – Diesel
G – Gap, H – Harley Davidson ?!, M – Mudd
N – Nautica, O – Old Navy, Q – QuikSilver
R – Reebok, S – Swiss Army, T – Timberland
X – Armani Exchange, Z – Zephyr

Can't Move Arms …

Well we did the climbing thing! Wow. That's fun. It was nerve-racking for me at first since I am kind of scared of heights, but it's easier to get over when you fall and you're immediately caught by the rope. My height (lack there of) poses a small hinderance for me, since I can't reach between the holds as easily as some of the more tall people. It's amazing what a difference it makes when the wall is at even a slight angle one way or the other.

I think that Matt and I did pretty well for our first day. We climbed for about two hours, took about an hour break and then climbed for another hour and a half. We're definitely better than when we began and we have the raw hands and sore muscles to prove it. It's a tiring activity if you're not used to it.

I know we'll be heading back … lots of fun!

Longest Week Ever!

I can't believe it's only been a few days since Sunday!! This has been such a long week. I think it's mainly been long because my days bled so seamlessly into my evenings. Usually it kind of breaks the two up when Matt gets home. But this week, he hasn't been home before 10 PM any night and most it's been closer to midnight.

It's supposed to be a pretty nice weekend (for Madison in April) and I want to be OUTSIDE. I also want to go try out the climbing gym that I found. It sounds like fun. The cheap movie theatre near us is also showing one movie I kind of want to see, Something's Gotta Give.

Right now I'm busy clearning the house. It's been a wreck since we got back and I definitely think I just need to get it good and clean. Not this half-way stuff I've been doing. I like to have a nice clean place before the weekend. That way it's easier to get it back to decent after we trash it all weekend. Wild parties … you know how it is.

I Want Summer!

I've got cabin fever, bad! I wanna be outside, outside, outside! I wanna swim. I wanna rollerblade. I wanna walk down to the library again. And truly, it's not too cold to do some of those things right now, but I just don't enjoy it as much when it's not nice and sunny and I've got to bundle up.

People are always skeptical when I tell them that Colorado is warmer than Wisconsin. Don't get me wrong. Colorado can get cold. Very cold. But the big difference is that it doesn't stay cold. All during the winter, you get little temperature hikes. It'll get up in the 40s for a few days. And when you get to this part of the year, it gets up even higher than that sometimes … in the 60s. Snow rarely stays around for more than a couple of days. Wisconsin on the other hand … gets cold and stays cold. For weeks, months … it's just so depressing.

Okay, now c'mon Sun!

Phew!

Checkbook found. Rent paid. There's nothing like tearing apart your apartment to liven up an afternoon. I also found a brand-new mint chapstick. I luv it when that happens. It's nearly as good as finding money in your pockets that you didn't know was there.

That happened to me too today when I logged into Paypal … well sort of. I get a monthly payment for some ads on my website, but I hadn't transfered the cash out for a while, so I had a whole bunch piled up. Luv a good influx of cash. Especially when you didn't have to do a thing (hardly) for it.

I missed The Screen Savers today. I usually watch that. It's got a lot of really interesting computer news on it. Photoshop tips … download of the day … The atmosphere on the show seems really fun too. I think it'd be a kick to work there.

I'm still working on my pics from France. I'm attempting some Flash stuff, but I might have to give that up and just do a regular web page cuz I'm getting kinda pissy with Flash. It just annoys me … it's made for designers first and programmers as an afterthought … so the programming stuff isn't really well thought-out.

I need a nap now. My muscles are sore. But I'll let lying around watching the OC suffice.
