And on Sunday …

Since we'd stayed up until 1:30 at my parents house playing Phase 10, we were a bit slow to get started on Sunday. Once we did, we introduced Patrick to the wonders of Noodles and Company and then headed south to visit Garden of the Gods. I'm not sure I've ever been there before Sunday, but whatever the case, we got to take Loki on a nice walk around the area and look at some very nice rock formations. I will be posting further photos later …

After GotG, we drove back to Denver and picked up dinner at Tamale Kitchen … we took the food home and made the only thing that could possibly improve upon Tamale Kitchen's food: margaritas. Margaritas were followed by lots and lots of Karaoke Revolution. I think it's safe to say that everyone enjoyed themselves.

Weekends are Too Short

In case you can't tell, this is a look of pure joy on my doggy's face. Mr. Loki woke up on Saturday morning only to find that he got to go hiking! We went to Eldorado Canyon, just south of Boulder and had a nice, long (but not too long) hike in the beautiful fall weather. Loki was mostly good until the ranger showed up. Then he wouldn't come when called and we got a warning and a prescription for more training. “Moki clearly isn't under voice sight control,” she told us. I told her that I didn't know who Moki was, but that we'd work on training Loki better. He also gets called Lucky a lot.

We also got our Christmas photo taken (finally!). After many attempts near home, we balanced the camera on a rock and did ONE SHOT on the timer that turned out perfectly. I won't be posting it until after my Christmas cards go out, though. So y'all will have to wait. Until then, you know where to find other photos from that day. Weekend Adventures

We had a very very nice weekend. So nice that I hardly got anything useful done, but that's OK. It happens. On Fri, my parents and sister came over. We had some lambrusco and a lotta pizza and a little salad and watched Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgandy, which was veyr good for some silly laughs.

We got up bright and early on Saturday and drove into the mountains to take pictures. The results of that trip are represented above and will be posted in greater detail at a later date. Since we've had so much moisture so far this year, there were lots of beautiful wild flowers and green green green. Loki had an excellent time smelling all of the new smells.

Saturday afternoon, we took my cousin Tessa out for a long-awaited birthday celebration (her b'day is in January). We went to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants which I highly recommend, along with the books that spawned it. We did a little shopping and had dinner at Buca di Beppo. Can you say more pizza? New Years!

Ahhh. The party was EXCELLENT last night. We had an all-time-high turnout and a spectacular fireworks display, compliments of my dear Vati and husband, setting no less than 30 small brush fires which we hurriedly put out, caused by some mortars going off too close to the ground.

I have a camera full of great pictures and hopefully I'll be able to get them posted in some sort of timely(ish) fashion. Cross your fingers. Well I must fly! Bye bye!

New York Pics!! and Weekend Recap

It's practically a miracle, but I've managed to update my pictures section twice in one week!! Yea me. Anyhoo, so check out the New York section for a synopsis of our trip and some great pictures and a lil' travel guide. So check that out, yea.

What else? Kinda boring weekend. Friday Matt and I ran errands and stuff like that and the he and Mom and I went to the Holiday Food and Gift Festival, which was actually kinda sucky, but I did get some hot chocolate mix (English toffee flavor) and some Mexican vanilla (yum!).

On Saturday, we ran around some in the morning and then in the evening we took my dad to see the house we are hopefully closing on on (!!) Friday since he hadn't seen it before and had dinner at Pei Wei. Then Matt and Mom and I watched some DVDs.

Today, Matt and I did some running around and then we've spent most of the rest of the day working on our various projects.

That's it … nice weekend.

House Pics

Up (sadly) sooner than my NYC pics!! Yep, they're here … house pics. Since it was a model home, there was some furniture in there that was up for grabs, so Matt went out this morning to pick out what we wanted (provided it was for sale). So we ended up with quite a few pieces (approx 2/3) for about $1500. Score.

Anyhoo, while he was out there he took pictures. I tried to get the floorplans to add to the pictures, but Village Homes' website won't bring it up right now, so we'll have to wait.

The House

I've added a mo-blog from Flickr and the first pic is our new house!!! We haven't closed yet … but hopefully in about a week and a half, it'll be ours. I will be posting more details as they come up.

Housekeeping

Okay, so I read about getting free stuff from this site. A n IPod to be exact. I don't really need an Ipod, but they do offer other cool free stuff. I also read about it on Wills Thrills, so I decided to try it. I'm signed up for the free flatscreen one. I need 8 people to sign up and complete an offer too (the Blockbuster one is free). I'll try to return the favor for anyone who helps me out too. I've got a lotta email addresses.

What else has been going on? Hmmm… not much. I did a little of everything this weekend. It was waaaay too short though. But I want to go to work tomrorow because it will get my mind of house stuff, which I really don't want to think about because it's become a little bit stressful. Continue reading “Housekeeping”

Hodge Podge

Today was an odd sort of day. We didn't really do anything towards house hunting which was a nice break, but we both did other little bits of work. Besides the work, we went on a 20 mi. bike ride through the area on the Greenbelt, which is a trail that links up across multiple cities on preserved areas, so it's pretty woodsy and nice. That was fun! Tonight, we chilled out, ordered in food and watched some TV and Calendar Girls, which was v. cute and funny.

Today we found something great too … the Spanish station!! It's got great up-beat Mariachi type music and we don't know what anyone's saying, so they can't annoy us!! It's practically perfect. Plus, Matt's covinced we can learn Spanish from listening (ha ha!). Continue reading “Hodge Podge”

Campout!

We spent the weekend in the mountains. Richard, who works with my mom, has a cabin up near Red Feather Lake and he holds an annual campout and invites all of his co-workers. So on Friday we loaded up my dad's Element and took off. May had to ride in the back seat with Matt and I, but she seemed to enjoy herself. She found a pillow that my mom had lain between the two front seats and laid her little head on it and snoozed for almost the whole trip (right through an incredible thunderstorm we encountered along the way).

It was late by the time we arrived and we spent the balance of the evening having a bit of food, sitting around the campfire and pitching our tent. As we went to pitch our tent, I stepped in a gopher hole and twisted my ankle. Youch! It hurt like mad, but it's pretty much healed now…. Anyhoo, so we pitched out tent, but it was kinda on a hill, so we were all (dog included) sliding down hill all night. Not the most comfy, but whatever. Continue reading “Campout!”
