I haven't got very much to say today. We had a real low-key night last night. Matty fixed me Tuna Noodle Casserole for dinner, which was very sweet of him because I was so worn out from our weekend that I came home and took a 2 hour nap. I was planning to cook afterwards, but when I woke up, dinner was already ready.
We ran a couple of errands … to the library and Bed Bath and Beyond. We had to pick up a new mandolin because the Cuisinart one we got less than a year ago fell apart and we had to toss it. So we got an Oxo one … it looks loads nicer and you can just turn a dial to change blades instead of having them separate (and therefore easily loseable!). I also couldn't resist getting a new apple slicer (though mine is green) and a butter boy.
A short time spent cleaning, a little reading and a walk and the evening was gone.

I ran across the
I am a simple creature, so a when they took a famous pastry chef, blind-folded him and had him do a taste-test of the candy bars we buy for 50 cents at the check-out stand, it amuses me. Greatly.
We've been hearing stories about rattlesnakes all summer. Denver is a semi-arid climate (we have cacti growing naturally in some places), so you expect some of this. But usually, they're only in certain places (rocky outcrops) at certain times (near sunset). But this year, they have been everywhere at any time of day. In tall grass … in backyards … in the middle of mountain bike trails. And by the last report we'd heard, over 20 dogs had been treated for rattle snake bites (the norm is like 1). Needless to say, we haven't been keen to take Loki anywhere he might encounter a rattle snake. Rattlers are like most animals, they prefer to stay away from people and only tend to attack when provoked or surprised. And they have that unique rattle sound to let you know where they are way ahead of time.
Another trip down memory lane .. surely lots of you guys watchd The Muppet Show. It's hard to pick a favorite from this great show … the old codgers who made fun of the whole thing, Prof. Bunsen and Beaker … but the Swedish Chef was a big time hit for me. Anyhoo, there are
Well there was no celebrating going on this weekend. I got a nasty cold for my b'day. Phlegm, coughing, sore throat, you name it. So I spent most of the weekend horizontal, watching bad TV, sleeping, and listening to my mp3 player. We made it to Target and we bought a humidifier… yes, that frog one. It's a lot cuter in person, actually. I'm still not well, so I'm staying home from work today. More bad TV. Yay.
Well that was officially the shortest weekend ever. Seriously. I feel like I just left work and I'm already back. Friday, Matt and I had date night. We went to Red Lobster because we were both wanting to have their Cheddar Bay Biscuits (you know what I'm talking 'bout). Yum. I honestly don't recall what we did with the rest of the evening. Tivo? Video games? Probably a combination. Saturday was our usual gender-divided morning where he went mountain biking and I went to Whole Foods with MamaFriend and CutestBaby to indulge in the world's best cake … it's called Berry Chantilly for anyone searching it out, BTW. We also hit Michaels and Old Navy. They are conveniently located very near one another. We took a long nap Sat afternoon cuz we were both zonked from all the heat. Then we watched a lot of Tivo (How good was Stargate?!?!) on Sat night. Sunday, we helped Matt's brother move apartments. And that, folks, was the weekend.
