28 Weeks

Well I had my 28 wk appointment yesterday. I got to see my nurse practitioner who I like loads … and I got to watch two six-minute videos … one on baby blues and one on preterm labor … both with hilarious 80s hairstyles and last but not least, I got to drink the 10 oz of orange stuff and have my blood drawn (don't know the results for that yet). I am measuring on schedule, little miss has a nice heart beat and the orange stuff wasn't as repellent as I had feared. All in all, an hour and a half well spent at the clinic.

I did next to nothing last night, including put up cookie recipes. They are coming, though, swear. I also went to bed quite early since I was still feeling tired. However it doesn't seem to have helped much. I think I'm just to that stage where sleep isn't as great. I'm quite sore in my hips and lower back. Thank goodness for the heating pad.

Another Weekend SHOT!

Well the weekend's gone, but I must say it was a nice one … we even got a few things accomplished.

Friday night was just a nice night to lie around and recover from the week and we did so happily.

Saturday we went to breakfast and then met up with our friend Holly to make plans for next weekend when we're having cookie baking weekend in Vail. After we did that and her little one slept, she and Matt and I braved the big baby store and registered. Matt and I are still married and still really like each other, so I refuse to believe all the hype people put around that pregnancy milestone.

After all that action, we rushed home and got ready for my company Christmas party which was held at Mile High Station this year. It's a really neat venue, sort of an old warehouse affair with brick everywhere. As usual, we had a really lovely time. It's always great to see people, especially coworkers who I rarely get to see in my day-to-day work and really enjoy catching up with. We even got a lead on a great daycare provider in our area.

Sunday we did our weekly shopping at Target and then spent the rest of the day doing laundry, cleaning, playing video games, and watching Jay Cutler's debut game at Mile High (the stadium this time).

'Bout That Time

Honestly, I'm pretty good at math, but I was a bit surprised when I realized that today I'm heading into my 7th month of pregnancy, not my 6th. Today is also the start of 3rd trimester (at least as some authorities calculate it). Though by how far Matt and I are into planning for little one's arrival, you'd think the stick just turned pink.

Truth be told, I've been thinking about the nursery quite a bit … and though I doubt we'll probably put much of this into action until January, here's the sort of plan. Continue reading “'Bout That Time”

Update

Hi all! Well, we went to the doctor and had another ultrasound and found that things look fine. AFI looks fine, baby girl looks fine. They didn't measure the AFI but indicated that it is still possibly on the low-side of normal. Apparently it's not a real scientific thing anyhow so “a qualitative analysis is as good as a quantitative analysis.” And she seems to be growing just fine. And that is something we're very thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve

Ahhh… the day before Thanksgiving. It's just after 7:30, but not so much life is stirring around my office. Mostly no one is going to be here today. I have a half-day myself, but not really because of tomorrow's holiday. We have an appointment with the perinatologist today so he can check and make sure little one is still on track. And we need to get our flu shots while we're at the clinic as well.

After that, who knows? I need to make some mashed potatoes at some point and there had been talk of some shopping or dinner or a movie. I don't know about you, but I'm really really really looking forward to having some time off.

If I don't get around to posting again, have a happy Thanksgiving!

Baby Update

Hi all. Sorry for the radio silence the past couple of days. I actually fully intended to update yesterday, but my server was down, prventing me from doing so …. then other things happened.

We went in for our ultrasound. Everything seemed pretty normal … here's the heart, there's the bladder, etc. but when we asked if everything looked OK, she explained she couldn't tell us that … she's not a doctor. OK we said. We left there feeling just fine about everything. about 2 hours after I got back from work, I got a call from my doctor … Continue reading “Baby Update”

Half Way There

Well today marks the half-way point … 20 wks down, 20 more weeks before the bun shows up in person. I had Matt take a belly shot of me last night but I'm a weee bit too self-conscious to post it. I still look a bit more fat than pregnant in my opinion … and probably in the opinion of others too because I still get huge looks of surprise when I tell people I'm pregnant and folks who know comment that I “don't look that pregnant.” Ah well. My jeans certainly know it. The larger stretchy pair I bought about 10 wks into pregnancy officially do not fit.

Well I'll do a quick preggers FAQ for you fine folks. Continue reading “Half Way There”

So Much!

Sorry for the cruddy posting last week. All of that jury duty stuff really screwed up my schedule. And I'm still not done yet!!! Today is a court holiday (Columbus Day), so we get a break from jury duty. But I have at least one more day, maybe two.

It is a gloriously rainy fall day and my happiness with the weather would be complete if only I were at home with a cup of tea instead of at work with a bottle of gatorade. But it is good to be at work. I hate leaving suddenly.

It was a beautiful fall weekend all around. It's been a gorgeous fall period. We got to go to the Paris Street Market, which is always enjoyable. We picked up a Sesame Street lunchbox that will serve as decor in the bebe's room. And I picked up a pair of maternity jeans when we hit the mall a bit later on. We also got to spend the evening babysitting Liam, which was all kinds of fun. He's such a good baby. We wateched Lady and the Tramp. On Sunday, after over 4 months of going without one, I finally got my hair cut. It was way too long and getting stringy (I don't grow long hair well). So it is once again shorter, and cute and fluffy. Yay. We also went to a family party to celebrate the visit of my grandpa's sister, Dorothy. It was so good to see her. I also got to make Apple Spice Cake to bring along. It's an amazing recipe. You should all try it out.
