Summer Time TV

I'm happy to see that summer TV is looking up this year. Before now, it seems it was mostly some crappy sappy stuff on the WB and re-runs. But with all the competition for air time, we're getting more and more decent TV during the summer… Both Stargates are coming back to Sci Fi on the 14th for their 3rd and 10th seasons. Monk, one of USA's original shows, is back with new eps this summer as well and they are adding Psych, a show about a guy with a photographic memory which he uses to fake being a psychic police consultant. Treasure Hunters on NBC is an amazing race sort of reality show that has pretty good potential … teams of three, including ex-CIA, airforce (my faves for the win), the geniuses, Miss USA (surprisingly competitive), and the Wild Hanlons (rednecks … love 'em) … have to break clues and follow a path to x-marks-the-spot to get their treasure. It's been pretty interesting so far. What're your summer TV picks?

Doing Our Part

Well we certainly did our part this weekend to revive Hollywood's crummy box office receipts as of late. We saw Devil Wears Prada on Saturday evening and Superman Returns on the 4th. I greatly enjoyed DWP … it was fun and well-done with good characters and a good story. Superman Returns on the other hand … I dunno … I just didn't really dig it. I thought it was cheesy in an unintentional way and that it needed some major editing. Continue reading “Doing Our Part”

Dust on the Car …

I like art, especially when it's unexpected or tongue and cheek. And I've got the utmost respect for those who can take something mundane or even traditionally thought of as ugly or boring and transform it into something beautiful. I've seen loads of unusual art, but this medium is probably the most unusual I've seen so far … Scott Wade has been drawing (painting?) works of art into the dust on the back of his Mini-Cooper. You really have to see this for yourself.

A Vision of Loveliness

Well, sad to say, my old Dell DJ gave up the ghost just before we left for vacation. It was a great MP3 player, but a few too many drops eventually did it in (clumsy me). So I went in search of a new one. Actually, if you wanna get technical, Matt went in search of a new one…. and he found the Zen Vision: M by Creative. It's cute. It's green. It plays videos and displays photos as well as playing music. The interface is quite a bit different than my Dell and right now, I find it a bit cumbersome, but I think with time I will like it.

One very cool thing is that I can use the AC adapter from my old MP3 player to charge this one…. especially nice because it didn't come with an adapter and could only be charged via USB. It also came with a piece of software for exploring and managing the files on the device which has a good interface and works pretty smoothly. So far … I like it lots.

Wedding Pics this Time

Another day, another installment of vacation photos. These are all pre-wedding and wedding photos. They actually start on Thursday at the nail salon and end at the reception … they're incredibly scattered, but I think pretty self-explanatory.

The wedding was a very nice catholic service (merged into a mass) and the reception was in a 20s style ballroom at Embassy suites (built ca. 2002 ). It was a lovely wedding … the bride and groom both seem very happy.

Beach Vacation

Well, I've started the process of uploading photos. I'm doing them in 2 sets (maybe 3) since it was a long trip. I put up the beach photos last night. I didn't get as many as I'd hoped, but there are a few nice ones. You can see them here.

Glad to be Back

The beach was wonderful. The sister's married. The wedding was beautiful. We had a really really great time. We're both totally exhausted. I will post some more pictures soon … so so so glad to be back.
