Snow!

Well they didn't actually exagerate too badly this time. We did get quite a lot of snow! Luckily that one with the 13 inches of snow is into the foothills, probably a good 20 miles from us. But I'm sure some people will be digging out for a while! I'm extra glad I bought new winter boots last weekend when I saw them at Target. I've had a crummy pair from Lands End that I really dislike since we lived in WI and I love my new pair. Great morning for them because it was slushy and slick!!

Too bad to be at work instead of cuddled up by the fire. Stay warm!!

Potpourri

Lots of nothing going on in my world right now.

The Denver area is being told to brace for a hell of a winter storm. They're tossing around words like “blizzard watch” and “severe winds” but I am taking this with a grain of salt since the media around here is given to sensationalism concerning our snow fall.

Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars have been good this year and last night was no exception. They're pulling off the Lorelai/Chris thing so well I'm almost pulling for them to make it, but I know that L&L belong together in the end.

I'd been able to wear my normal tops up until now, but they're starting to show a bit of belly when I put them on. I have enough stuff to get by, but I will probably need to hit Old Navy soon and get just a few more things. Some of the maternity clothes I've borrowed from others that fit fine the first half or pregnancy look laughable on me by this point. Plus I really need to be looking for something to wear to holiday events. Continue reading “Potpourri”

All Dressed Up

Don't you just love all the creativity going on out there? I stumbled upon this set of photos where someone has dressed up Mr. Potatohead to look like … well … you'll see. My faves are Dr. Zoidberg, Homer, and the Yellow M&M.

Also in the creativity realm … the makers of Make zine are publishing a new zine … a sister zine called Craft. I have yet to pick up a copy (it is at the bottom of a rather lengthy to-do list), but the table of contents looks promising.

Wintery Weekend

We had our first sizeable snows of the year last week and the cold weather has continued. Though of course we got enough sun to melt most of it off. Now today and most of the rest of the week, we may see highs in the high 50s or low 60s. Not too awful.

I spent most of the weekend resting and I plan to go home after work today and do some more of that. But we did have my parents, sister, grandma and aunt and cousin who were in from out of town over for dinner and catching up. It was very nice to see everyone.

We barely left the house otherwise. Matt and I both had to catch up on some office work that we hadn't gotten to this week, but aside from that, I did a whole bunch of lying around. Matty played some video games and attended to my every need and whim (not to mention some housekeeping and the needs and whims of our four-legged friend) … and made sure I rested. Baby Update

Hi all. Sorry for the radio silence the past couple of days. I actually fully intended to update yesterday, but my server was down, prventing me from doing so …. then other things happened.

We went in for our ultrasound. Everything seemed pretty normal … here's the heart, there's the bladder, etc. but when we asked if everything looked OK, she explained she couldn't tell us that … she's not a doctor. OK we said. We left there feeling just fine about everything. about 2 hours after I got back from work, I got a call from my doctor … Continue reading “Baby Update”

Tivoless Weekend

Hi all. Hope you guys had a nice weekend. Mine was largely quite nice. I left work early on Friday and worked on my mom's cousin's shower with her. Saturday was more of the same in the morning … rushing around like crazy, followed by the shower itself which went off pretty well, in my opinion. We got the famous berry chantilly cake from Whole Foods again and it was loved by all. Mostly, though it was just nice to see everyone. We have a lot of extended family in the area and even so, it's rare that we all get together. So it was great to see everyone.

That evening I was more tired than I can remember being since first trimester. I think two days of rushing around and being on my feet really took it out of me. I was in bed by 9 (after lying around all evening) and didn't get up the next morning until 9. Sooo lazy. Since I hadn't seen Matty all weekend, practically, we spent the whole day together.

Unfortunately, a lot of time was spent dealing with loopholes, bureaucracy and incompetence at Tivo headquarters since we discovered on Fri night that my Tivo while still functioning in most ways, could no longer receive the cable box's signal … and therefore couldn't record anything. I won't bore you with the details, but I'm still Tivoless and unless I pony up around $200, I'm going to remain Tivoless for a while. I have to decide about that … it's been one of those months where everything that could possibly cost us $$ has come up and so we may limp along with our crummy Comcast DVR for a while until I feel like I can part with the cash.

Half Way There

Well today marks the half-way point … 20 wks down, 20 more weeks before the bun shows up in person. I had Matt take a belly shot of me last night but I'm a weee bit too self-conscious to post it. I still look a bit more fat than pregnant in my opinion … and probably in the opinion of others too because I still get huge looks of surprise when I tell people I'm pregnant and folks who know comment that I “don't look that pregnant.” Ah well. My jeans certainly know it. The larger stretchy pair I bought about 10 wks into pregnancy officially do not fit.

Well I'll do a quick preggers FAQ for you fine folks. Continue reading “Half Way There”

What's Going On

This'll be a mish-mashy sorta post. But that's OK. I'm good at that.

I've been watching Rachael Ray's new daytime TV show (Tivoed of course) … and greatly enjoying it. I've always enjoyed her food but been sorta luke-warm about her (the loud talking and excessive hand gestures, I think), but she's sort of won me over with her new show. So I'll happily recommend it to all of you. It's about 40% cooking and the rest is silly miscellaney that I find quite enjoyable.

I've gotten back into watching Martha's daytime show too. It amuses me to see her with Mr. T (she loved him in Rocky) and Andy Dick. There have been some cool segments as well. I loved the cocktail umbrella lampshades!

For some reason, Blogger seems to be malfunctioning today, so it's been hard to check up on everyone. I'll have to sneak in a read here and there.

We cooked the fishcakes last night and they were great. I'm finding a new aversion to parsley and I wasn't happy with some of the bigger pieces, but you really need it, I suppose, to make them look right and come together.

Office and Grey's Anatomy tonight. Yay!
