This was one of the first weekends in a while where I wasn't totally devastated on Sun night that I had to return to work the next day. I think that's because I finally had a slow weekend. I did very little that was for or about anyone else and that level of selfishness apparently sits well with me. hehehehe
Friday we begged off a family obligation and Kelly came over and we cooked up some Mac 'n' Cheese and played an abbreviated game of Monopoly … one of those annoying ones where no one gets a Monopoly and no one has a clear advantage and you have to trade a bunch and the whole thing just feels dumb. So we quit. Don't remember what else we did.
Saturday we cleaned up the house, did laundry, and babysat Liam for a few hours. He's such an easy going good baby. He even took a nice nap. Then we hit Target and did the food shopping for the week. It was a bit later than we normally go and it was a mad house there, chock full of overtired screaming kids. On the way home, we decided to hit what use to be the teeny tiny dog park by our house. It isn't teeny tiny anymore. It's huge. They expanded it into the whole trail system that used to surround it and now it's the biggest dog park we know of … and less than 10 min from our house. It's a huge system of interconnected trails and plenty of water for Loki to play in. He had a great time chasing the ball until we had to take him home before the ice cream melted.
We made up some delicious Cream of Mushroom soup for dinner and ate it (as we do with most soups we make) with crusty french bread and apples. Yum. We watched some TV and played some video games with the rest of the evening.
Sunday we got up late and went out for breakfast. Then we ran around looking at air compressors because Matt needs one for the sprinkler system or something. We also took Loki to Petsmart and then back to the dog park for a longer walk and more of a swim. Then we went home and I rested and Matt went to look at more compressors. Later we roasted a chicken in the rotisserie and caught snippets of the Broncos … and played more computer games.
I got very little accomplished this weekend (still have not started NaNoWriMo), but at least I start out the week well rested with a cleanish house and clean clothes.
Sounds like a really good weekend!
Sundays are depressing. Hunter Cashdollar
