Random Stuff from My Phone Camera

It has been a BEAUTIFUL fall around here. The above photo is from our “long” run (6.2 mi) on Sunday. The view alone was inspiring. My sub hour finish was icing on the cake… but I digress.

And then there’s our neighborhood. Our neighborhood plantings were very well-designed and we have gorgeous colors across the fall rainbow. This is the tree next to our house. Matt says it’s a Bradford Pear, but considering he didn’t know our lilac bush wasn’t a lilac bush anymore I don’t have much faith in his botanical identification abilities.

Tabby is SUPER keen to shed the carseat and move on to a booster. I saw this one at Wally World and thought it was pretty cute. But I have reservations about letting her move on. She’s tiny! At 4.5, she weighs in around 38 lbs and at last measurement was just kissing the 40″ mark. Admittedly she’s grown a bit since then (her dresses are all suddenly mini-dresses) but I don’t think it was 9″ and since she can be in her Britax until 65 lbs and 49″ it’s hard for me to give the green light on a big girl carseat.

We snapped this photo before our half marathon a couple of weekends ago. We actually snapped a few, but this is my favorite, perhaps because you can’t see much of my black hat in it which makes me look like I’m about to rob a liquor store. I immediately titled it in my mind, “Half Crazy.” Tee hee.

Here’s one I snapped a few weeks ago just after I got back from Portland. We were headed to our favorite Fish ‘n’ Chips shop this side of the pond (Sloans Lake – pictured, or the Atlantic Ocean) and there were funky dark clouds and a gorgeous sunset.

Am I the only one who does this? Please tell me I’m not alone (and crazy). I like to snap images of things I see and want to remember for later and research … books, DVDs, toys, etc. This is from the MOMA shop in SoHo (I think). They had an awesome array of kids coloring (doodle) books that I wanted to remember for Christmas time. Hint hint, Santa.

This beaut was taken on our last run in NYC. Matt and I ran from our apartment across the Brooklyn Bridge. It was one of my favorite non-race runs I’ve ever done. Very unique and scenic. I also look quite like I’ve got breakfast stashed in my cheeks so that’s a plus.

Saved the most sober for last. This was taken during one of our other runs while in NYC. This statue used to stand in The World Trade Center Plaza to celebrate and promote world peace. It now resides in Battery Park with an eternal flame dedicated to the victims of 9/11. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the thing is decimated, cut up with shrapnel and debris. We didn’t visit the WTC memorial when we were in NYC (tickets, lines, security, hassle), but somehow seeing this … really just coming upon it in an otherwise normal morning run … I feel like it brought the reality back to me like no man-made memorial no matter how well done (and it is amazing from what I’ve seen of it) could.
