We had a very nice Memorial Day Weekend.
Matt’s mom came in from Nashville to spend a couple of days with us. So Friday night we had a bunch of friends over for burgers and brats and hot dogs and fun. The kids watched a movie outside and the adults hung out and chatted.
Saturday we did lots of house things. We finally had to put a coat of sealer on our patio table and benches. We also pulled out the pop-up in anticipation of our camping trip next weekend. It needed de-winterized and inventoried and slicked up.
This charming old boy was happy to have his humans nearby working in his backyard.
We took Matt’s mom to Indian food, which she had never had before and watched the Gabby Douglas story on Netflix.
Unfortunately, Matt’s mom had to leave early Sunday morning due to a scheduling misshap with her flight. We’re still not sure if it was always the only direct flight home Sunday or if they condensed down multiple flights into the super early one, but that was the deal, so by the time the rest of us got up, Matt had already seen his mom off.
We had originally planned a bike ride/movie, but Matt wasn’t feeling awesome, so we slept in more and did some more work around the house and a leisurely sort of morning. Around 10, Kelly called to say that her ailing rabbit, Bunbun had passed away. We offered up our backyard as her final resting place and had an impromptu bunny funeral a little while later (kinder decorated grave site above).
After the funeral, we went to IKEA for some retail therapy (really just to price cabinets for our workout room) and some Swedish meatballs. Then we came home for dinner and family meeting by the light of our new lanterns ($3 ea).
Afterward, there was a trip to the park and some roaming around the neighborhood.
Monday dawned early as we saddled up to ride the newly openedĀ 36 Bikeway and take a super un-flattering selfie at the top of a big ol’ hill. It’s a beast of a ride – 36 miles round trip from Westminster to Boulder. Afterward, we tried out the also newly-opened R Tacos which in addition to some great tacos, boasts margaritas made with “fresh lime juice and cheap tequila.” An instant hit!
We finished up the weekend with a BBQ at our friends house and a spot of heat exhaustion. Boo.
