We jam-packed this weekend – and it was great!
I took off work “early” on Friday (having only put in 47 hours for the week) and picked up Tabby from school. She has been wanting to have a mommy/daughter date for a while now and that was the plan for Friday night. We went to paint pottery then had dinner together. After that, we did a little shopping (T got a new outfit and I got a new pair of flip-flops my feet LOVE). Then we came home and made muffins and finished our evening off by a viewing of one of my all time favorite movies, Swiss Family Robinson.
The boys, meanwhile, had a boys night out with our neighbor and his boys and a couple of other friends. They went to see Peabody and Sherman … and they were able to join us for the tail end of our movie.
The kids were supposed to have karate on Saturday morning, but after a bunch of false-starts and a couple of grumpy, sleep-deprived kids (why will they wake up super early on weekends?!), we sent them to bed for early naps. They did nap and after that we met our friends at the Denver Museum of Science and Nature for lots of sciency fun.
In the evening, the kids went to the community center in our new ‘hood for Kids Night Out and Matt and I took a long bike ride and stopped on the way home for dinner. It was a really nice, very active date night.
Sunday we had a few more false-starts as we tried to find a place to hike, we found a great trail for the kids and they well on their 4 mile hike.
These kind of views didn’t hurt one bit.
Somewhere in there, we did grocery shopping and helped our friends paint their deck.
And for the last act of our weekend, we headed to my dad’s to have a nice dinner and belatedly celebrate Matt’s birthday as a family.
I’m now facing down an incredibly busy week and already looking forward to my next weekend!
You got to pack the weekends with fun to make up for such busy work week’s. Glad it was fun!
