It hasn’t been the easiest thing living so far away from our “home base.” The commute is brutal. But we’re getting there … and seeing the house take shape is great. It shows us we’re getting close!
We had our pre-drywall walk yesterday. It was pretty uneventful – just a couple of small things that needed to be added or corrected. They have to get through inspections and put up some insulation and the drywall dust will start flying.
The house looks pretty much like it does above right now (this pic is a bit old) except the columns on our porch are actually columns and not just 2x4s holding up the roof.
I love seeing little things like the fireplace going in. That is probably one of the only “finished” things in the house now and I mean just the fireplace itself.
We go visit quite a bit, most every weekend, even when we’re sick (above).
The kids are fascinated by the process and ask LOTS of questions. It seems like a good opportunity to me to show them how things work.
The latest development is on our deck – this is the breezeway between the house and the garage/carriage house. Getting this in will make it easier to walk on the jobsite, so YAY. Plus, I’m just excited to see it!
The word right now is that if all goes well, we’ll be in by the end of June. I’m not counting on it, but I am hoping for it!
