It was a nice long weekend. The kids went to stay with my parents while Matt and I had a date. The kids missed their grandparents and had a great time hanging with them while Matt and I ran errands in peace and went to see American Reunion, which was fun … and as it’s at the bargain theatre, CHEAP. Yay.
In the morning we picked them up and went right to a birthday party at the train museum. They both had a wonderful time.
Ben in particular enjoyed the cupcakes.
After they got all good and sugared up, we took them home for long naps. Then we headed off to our friends’ house for a BBQ. We enjoyed a beautiful evening in the back yard chatting and watching the kids play. Matt and I brought over marshmallow shooters (more on those tomorrow) and the kids and dads alike had a great time plinking each other.
Sunday we got busy getting the yard ready for the season. It’s something we should have done earlier and it was a bit more arduous than we would have hoped. We ended up renting a tiller to turn up the garden and eventually work in new soil. My parents, sister and grandma came over later and joined us for dinner which was a much needed break. We relaxed with salmon, green beans, corn and mint juleps made from the mint from our garden. YUM.
Monday we mostly did the garden thing some more. We did take breaks to hit the grocery store and shop for plants and take the kids to the pool for a bit, but we ended up working pretty late into the evening on the garden. But before bed, Matt and I got to spend a nice hour enjoying our patio and the fruits of our labor.
Sounds like a fab weekend!
