What're y'all doing for Halloween? Tabby has some hand-me-down Halloween costumes … a black cat, I think, and maybe something else (I've got to look thru boxes). But I'm still not sure what we want to do about a costume for her. Part of me wants to mark the event (her first Halloween) with a cool costume, and part of me goes “$17(-$25) for something she's only going to wear for *maybe* 2 hours?!? Crazy!!” But I did see a really cute monkey costume @ Old Navy and a Pumpkin Faerie costume @ Target, both of which I really liked. And I'm also tempted to dress her up as Maggie (from The Simpsons) since she's so in love with her binky (though where can I find that hair?!?).
And of course, we need to carve pumpkins. Matt LOVES to carve pumpkins. I just saw a really great post about that too … ah yes, here it is. It's funny, I remember Halloween vividly last year, lying on the couch, eating pizza and watching that horrible Herbie movie (the one with Lindsay Lohan) and feeling Ms. Tabby kick me … hehe. As usual, things have been way busy around here and as usual, I'm really looking forward to the weekend. We're planning to take Tabby back to the zoo. They have a new baby giraffe there and maybe this time it won't be so hot! And there's always household projects and weekly errands.
I need to do a bunch of cooking, too. I want to have a few things in the freezer for those days when we just can't be bothered. Chili is always a big hit, so I may do that. Our best friends are about to have their second baby, so I want to make a few things to take to them/stock their freezer as well. Fall just inspires me to cook and bake and all of that. I want to add more photos to the cookbook too. Sometimes I get really nice photos of what I cook and other times … not so much. I just ran across this article on how to photograph food. I should study up.
I really haven't been watching much TV, but I am caught up on Ugly Betty and The Office and I'm also enjoying the somewhat cheesy and cliche October Road from the online viewing section at ABC. I think they sucked me in with their small-town appeal (like Gilmore Girls) and all the pretty footage of New England in the fall. I'm a sucker for that stuff. It was a late season pick-up last year and there are like 5 eps available online and they're planning to add it back to the schedule this year when other junk drops off.
And speaking of TV, they're going to air Legally Blonde, The Musical, this weekend in MTV. I have it setup to Tivo, since this is as close as I'm getting to Broadway for a while. For the record, this will be the first time I've watched anything on MTV since they cancelled Daria.
And while I'm on the subject of TV shows and such, I also just read that the new Indiana Jones flick is slated to be released on Memorial Day 2008. And I must say, despite not having worked on an IJ flick in almost 20 years, Harrison Ford doesn't look half bad. I just lurve Indiana Jones and I”m super excited about this … just hope it lives up to expecations.
I also just got my turn at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollow on Audio CD from the Library. Yay! And speaking of the libray, I'm #113 on the list of holds for Deceptively Delicious, which is the art of sneaking veggies into foods. It was written by Jessica Seinfeld (y'know, Jerry's wife). There's a similar book, The Sneaky Chef, with a similar idea (though I'm just hold #11 for that one, cuz that author didn't get herself on Oprah). I try to eat tons of veggies, but it is always excellent to sneak extras in where you can.
That's probably enough from me for now.
I love your long posts.
Perhaps the costumes will come down in price soon?
I have to keep in mind that site about taking pics of food. Not that I am in the mood or anything as you know. LOL.
I saw a commercial about MTV showing Legally Blond the musical. I did enjoy both films.
I too am looking forward to the new Indy. Hee hee.
That is a good idea to sneak in veggies wherever possible. I wonder if people will notice though?
Last year I made one of Jeremy's brothers buy Lorelei's halloween outfit… she was a pink princess the same one is up for sale again this year at BRU lol… but last year after halloween I got Lore's costume for this year… a hershey kiss… hehehe… just gotta find her some sweats to wear under it to keep her warm this year… but when I was at Toys-R-Us on Thrusday they had some costume already marked down…
Last year, for Lila's first Halloween we dressed her as a pink leopard. It was a pretty cute costume, not too expensive. I really wanted her to wear a pink costume b/c most of her clothing was pink, so I thought it fit. This year, I am making her costume (I need to get on the ball with that). She is going to be Raggedy Ann.
