As you might have guessed (especially if you've been paying attention to my flickr photostream), the helpful helpers were helping us convert the guest room to a nursery. Loads of photos here. The first and biggest task entailed us clearing a spot for the furniture in the basement. Yikes. Many trips to goodwill and an alley full of trash. Once that was done, our helpers helped us get the furniture out of there (seeing as I can't lift anything anymore).
Then our family friend, Ed, who is a retired master electrician and a nice guy besides was able to help Matt and my dad run wiring for a new switch (with dimmer) and an overhead light (which we didn't have before!). After this was done, Matt, Dad, Kelly, Mom and I taped up the room and painted it that lovely shade of purple you see there. Post dinner, Matt and Kelly did some anal-retentive touch up work with my tiny artist paintbrushes and Mom, Dad and I put the crib together (with the worst instructions EVER!).
Over the past couple of days a few more things have come together. The curtains went up (we got them from PB Teen in case you're curious). And Mom went a bit nuts and outfitted little miss with the bedding we'd registered for.
Then I went a bit nuts and glued some cocktail umbrellas to a lampshade for the first of a few accessories I plan to make.
The light fixture is on order and we're trying to get the dresser on order (maybe they're on vacation??) and we're feeling pretty darn pleased with the room.
Beautious. My absolute fave color ya know. The elephants are snuggly and me loves that lamp. I saw the instructions online to make that shade. I thought it over but have nowhere to go with another lamp!!! Drat!
You know I was wondering where you got the lamp. Very clever.
I love that lamp! Depending on how my new office space is, maybe I'll make one!
where did you get the bedding – or fabric? love the color, love the elephants.
Martha made a lamp like that once I think. I've been wanting to do it, but haven't had the time. Your's looks fantastic! I love it!
Very nice! I really like that color. It's an exciting time!
It looks wonderful!!!!!!
Love it! I think that kids rooms should be fun, so I adore vibrant colours in them. Best lamp ever, btw …
