I would like to think that I have a spontaneous chef in me; you know that character that can take a few items from the pantry and whip up an excellent, elegant dish. However, the reality is that my spontaneous chef gets a bit heavy-handed with something, or misses a key ingredient and makes a spontaneous mess of things. Last night, though, the stars must have been in alignment. Spontaneous chef and I whipped up an excellent dinner. We started with a little bit of butter. Taste people! In four portions, a tablespoon of butter is just 22.5 calories and the taste cannot be measured. It got its buttery self melted in a large skillet. Then I added a package of sliced mushrooms and some leftover sliced (raw) zucchini and yellow squash. Once that had all sauteed itself nicely, I seasoned it with some coarse salt and garlic pepper. Then I added a jar of Healthy Choice spaghetti sauce (it really is the best sauce) and warmed that up. Last, but not least, some pre-cooked chicken from the deli section. We served it over bowtie pasta and man, was that good. Probably a 20 minute meal.
