When I was in the office kitchen yesterday, I saw a flyer for Dinner and Dish. Basically, you choose a selection of dinners from a menu they provide (options change on a monthly basis) and they get all the ingredients ready and prepped for you and you run over, assemble the dinners (you do this so that you can control the spice, and leave out stuff you don't like) and then bring them home in Ziploc's or whatever, and keep them in your freezer 'til you want to use them. I'd heard about this idea before, but I'd always sort of meant to do the same thing on my own. I was amazed at the price though … $185 for 12 entrees. I'd be hardpressed to buy the quantity of food for that, let alone take the time to do the prep work. Also, someone else takes care of the dishes (at least for the cooking).
Plus, it's been a bit hard lately to get good dinners on the table. I've been extremely tired and Matty and I have both been busy, so we decided to give it a try. We opted out of the cobbler and the pork dish (neither of us really enjoy pork) and we're all set up to assemble next Tuesday!
I'll let you know how it goes. After the fiasco with switching hosts, and in light of the amazing recovery my host has made (I'm not the only one with drastic improvement, RIGHT?!?) I'm going to stick with this host for a while yet. I'm hoping the problems have resolved themselves for the time being anyhow.
I heard about that meal option on the news! Good luck I'd be curious to hear more about it.
sounds interesting. definitely let us know how it goes.
