First and foremost, there is a new recipe for Monday. It's part of my long-term obession with Macaroni and cheese … and it's from Alton Brown's show, Good Eats (one of my faves!). This mac 'n' cheese has a slightly different flavor and it's topped with bread-crumbs, which just give it that certain something …
It's probably not as kid-friendly as most other macaroni and cheese, but it's nice with a glass of wine and a crisp green salad … sort of comfort food with a grown-up gourmet twist.
Possibly good to make on Valentine's Day?? My “weekend” started on Thursday about noon. Mikey (tall, hilarous gent from work, good friend) and I headed off on the company ski trip. Now it's time for a little riddle.
Q: What do you call a ski trip when you don't ski?
A: A drinking trip.
And that pretty much sums up my Thursday night. On Friday morning, Mikey and I left Vail and came back to the city. Neither one of us too much hungover.
I had a looong nap and Matt and I spent my freeish day running errands and working around the house. That night, Holly came over and she and I made stamps (I'll post some instructions later) and goofed around. Matt worked on a frame for Holly's whiteboard.
Saturday I worked all morning and then joined Holly for some cleaning, Alias watching and b'day cake making. A very good day. That evening was Mikey's b'day party. Matt drank heavily, got his shirt torn, and his knee still hurts from wrestling (yes, really wrestling, not fighting) with Mikey.
Sunday we both suffered from ennui, but still forced ourselves to be productive. Matt helped my mom hang shelves and I got some work done and chatted with my Nashville mates. All in all a good weekend.
Glad you had a good weekend.
