Princes and Princesses

I'm sitting here at my desk programming (well actually now I'm writing this) and watching Love Story … not pictured on the left, I might add. It's one of those classic older movies that I'd never seen before, so I decided to give it a try. I'll admit I've only been watching it half-heartedly, but it's definitely a period piece … a sappy one at that. I know it'll end badly, so that doesn't sit well with me, but I guess it's one of those train-wreck things. Plus, that guy's pretty cute.

Anyhow, they've just shown a trailer for The Prince and Me. Which is the new Julia Stiles movie … about how she meets a prince masquerading as a commoner and falls in love. Sad-Oh that I am, this is the exact type of movie that I luv. Light, airy, fluffy, with bits of humor and heavy on the romance. Princes are good too. What can I say? I'm shallow.

I'm also a bit of a royal-o-phile – Is that a word? It must be as I've just used it – as well, really. I snatch up copies of any magazine that decides to put Prince William (or Harry, I'm not picky!) on the cover … and I love those shows about the royals (not the dramatic stuff though, just the fluffy stuff). I also love The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. They're fun, interesting little books. And the newest one comes out TODAY! I'll be going to B&N later, I think.

I also found out today that Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham) is making another film. It's called Bride and Prejudice and it's a Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice with musical numbers and stuff … sounds like great fun.

Okay, I'm done blathering about my media pursuits. Oi.

  1. Even if my viewing is limited, I have to say that I love Bollywood genre! Even my son can get into it and that's saying a lot! Sometimes, foreign films are way better than domestic ones!
